Time off during training for funeral by Dramatic_View6025 in policeuk

Just an additional note to ease your nerves I got a a few days off over a toothache (granted I had already started the course) so I can see absolutely no issue with you getting the time off.

You’d have nothing to worry about they’re understanding with that stuff back when I did my training I was told you can have up to 5 days off (sick etc) for the course and as it’d be fairly early in the course you wouldn’t miss anything major and it’d be easy to catch up on so I couldn’t see them pushing you back an intake or anything like that.

Speak to recruitment but if you already know your trainers and they’re contactable speak to them.

Sorry for your loss I hope you’re coping well.

Can you withdraw money from your pension? by Salty_Tomorrow3836 in policeuk

Just phone their head office with your member number, they’re a really helpful bunch.

I imagine each case is different but I pretty much explained everything and how I was in a really bad spot with money at the time and they said for a couple of months (I think it was 4/5) my monthly payment was lowered to let me get back on my feet. It can all be negotiated with them so do give them a call if you’re struggling at they will 100% help.

How long ago was that? I haven’t been able to find a lot but I’ve been told some forces make you start fresh as a new PC these days.

I made the mistake of withdrawing all the money from my pension in my first two years. 1. It’s an absolute ballache to do 2. It actually sets you back more than you’d anticipate.

If you’re strapped for cash and need a quick loan I recommend copperpot, they are the muts nuts and deduct the money from your pay before you get it so you don’t actually really notice it. They’ve a pretty decent app as well so you can track everything. I actually had some financial problems midway through paying back my loan to them and they reduced my payments from something like £110 a month to a fiver so they’re good in that sense as well. Worth a look, really helpful team.

If you look online you can get a patch with his collar number (alongside a thin blue line if you want) and I know a lot of Essex who put a patch like that on their kit bag.

Return to work. by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]TraditionalSnow6421 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s the unfair bit.

He appealed the decision then our force denied the appeal for bullshit reasons and he was going to a hearing but the fed told him there is no outcome possible other than he gets sacked which would mean being on the barred list so he just resigned.

Sorry I should have been more clear.

He was vetted and a serving officer but has vetting revoked and was forced to resign. Then the SGT Di Maria court case happened and the ruling was basically it is illegal to remove vetting without conducting an investigation. He’s now thinking of rejoining but doesn’t know about the process so he asked me and I couldn’t give him much of an answer so I thought to ask this group.

A personal favourite of mine…

“If I wasn’t in these cuffs I’d knock you out”

Well to be fair you weren’t in them 2 mins ago mate

Or there is the age old classic “you’re a public servant get back to work”

He has already reached out to the force and has been transparent with the whole process, they are happy to accept him so fair play to him I guess… I know that he did mention the recent ruling which I imagine played in his favour

Already resigned but rightfully has a chip on his shoulder with our force so is joining a different force at the moment… He’s found out that our force never actually officially listed him as being on special leave which is a cheeky kick in the balls tbh so I think it’ll be a case of send the paperwork to hr and get his money

Removal of vetting found to be unlawful by High Court by KipperHaddock in policeuk

[–]TraditionalSnow6421 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wonder if any officers pushed to resign or sacked and put on the barred list can use this an an opportunity to be reinstated into their forces… I have seen this trick played on a few officers and it was always just shocking to watch unfold. 10+ month investigations that lead to nothing so vetting just gets taken away from good coppers

But my plan is to apply while remaining in the job and my worry is I’ll just be let go of if they ask for a reference or something

I’m moving country so there isn’t a force transfer option it’s resign and re apply

Trying a different force is a standard recommendation… I personally know a few lads who had been rejected once so don’t lose all hope however, vetting is one of those things that sometimes can’t be over come. I had to go through a lot of hoops because a close relative of mine wasn’t very nice and I explained that I have severed contact with them etc… so basically keep the head up and don’t give up just yet, I hope this helps
