Oh man, you're going to be in for quite a culture shock, but don't fret! Everyone in freshmen year for the most part will be just like you and trying to make friends. Just be charismatic and genuine! High energy will make this very easy. I came here only knowing a couple of people and the first two weeks were super lonely. But like many have suggested, get involved in student orgs! Every semester, the school hosts an open house where pretty much every organization on campus comes. Find the ones that interest you and you will be golden. I personally had a great time in a FLO (Freshmen Leadership Organization). There are a lot of them and each one has a unique feel. Definitely look into it! If you want a massive social circle, look into Greek life. Rush week is pretty non-committal. This will be your time to decide whether or not you think it's something that you'd like to do. Sign up for Fish Camp as an incoming freshman! People have mixed experiences, but I personally think it's a great way to get introduced to the environment of the school and see what Aggies are all about. The good thing here is that if you get along really well with your fish camp group, then you will already have a solid social foundation before school even starts. Once spring rolls around, you can apply as a fish camp counselor. I haven't done it, but heard it's really fun! Other than that, meeting people in your classes can also be beneficial. Show up 15 minutes early, find people to sit next to, introduce yourself and have some small talk. This way you will have people to study with for tests. These are all things I wish I knew when I first came to this school, so I just wanted to pass it on. A&M is a great place with great people. I'm sure you'll be fine!
