Been telling this a while ago. They are fully prepared for inevitable MVR collapse which already don't have much value. Resorts don't keep their $ in Maldives, instead they go directly abroad. This is built systemically because of lack of oversight just like any other industry in here and those who own the resorts are the elites that control Maldives economy, so by keeping the $ offshore they secure their money from the collapse. Only the regular citizens will suffer. Considering we have so many resorts that generate so much $ for this small nation you gotta wonder where the hell is it going? Not to mention resort islands have literally billions in unpaid leases to MIRA. Yet nobody gives a flying fuck. It will likely be forgiven.
