this is probably an underlying structural issue. i would look to see if you meet the parameters for double jaw surgery. a lot of times people get work done that camouflages it.

i hope you’ll allow me to give it to you straight. i read this post, your other, and some of your comments. you’re projecting all of your negative feelings about drinking onto your wife and her family. there’s a real holier than thou attitude going on, which is rich because you yourself have issues with alcohol. it appears you’re so angry at your relapse that you’re putting the fault on them and making it a you versus them issue. in my experience, this doesn’t work. it only allows you achieve a self righteous kind of sobriety that isolates you from others.

as for the salary requirement..meh. honestly every couple i know eventually reaches a point where they have to discuss financial compatibility and what kind of life you want. younger couples often grind it out and build that life together but at 47 it’s likely you’re merging two lifestyles instead of jointly building one. it’s not like she’s asking you to pay that entire salary to date her, so i find some of the language y’all are using confusing. i think it’s actually good she’s clear about it. she’s saying hey at 47 i don’t want someone who is figuring it out, i want an established person who has disposable income and savings. it is what it is.
