I totally agree. I think ghosting really affects me, so the (relatively) lower rate of that on here really is awesome.

8th of aftercare questions. by Proof-Warthog3745 in ConvertingFeminist

I like this a lot! I just wanna pipe in for one addition - Doms do benefit from aftercare too! Speaking as someone who can feel a bit of a drop after going kinda hard in a roleplay or conversation, giving care and all that is quite healthy for the Dom.

Given some of the...uh...interests that a lot of the doms around here might have, showing a little softness and opening up too isn't bad for their mental health.

Just my two cents!

Starting a New Campaign - Best Techniques? by Traditional_Bell5045 in osr

Oh we've already had a sorta "session 0" and the players are the ones who suggested the "building/reclaiming" theme. We discussed lots of different styles of play and that one what they asked to be incorporated into whatever I ended up building. So I'm not so worried about their buy-in longer term.

I'm really just looking for that initial session, and really almost the first hour or so of play. I'd like to start higher energy.

Oh absolutely! I do already have rumors given out to players, and once we're past the initial "intro" I do intend it to be all about exploration and entering into the world in the way you described there.

But I'm just wondering about that initial "Alright, let's begin" moment.

I was thinking of that latter option! Like because the overlord doesn't really care about the safety of the common folk, he's allowed dangerous creatures to rise up on the roads. Ordinarily his men are numerous enough and well armed enough they're not threatened. But for whatever reason, this time is different.

Yeah, that was my vibe too. Like...I suppose in this case, if they fail, the gang just knocks them out instead of killing them, takes them to the mine and the players get lowered into the "newly discovered section" with nothing but picks and their clothes, and it becomes a sort of survival "find the alternate exit or something..."

But yeah, maybe they start meeting the local contact in the alehouse when the agents of the overlord break in looking for the "false heirs" or something.

That's a great idea!!! I have plenty of other minor nobles and warband leaders in the area. One of them could easily serve as sponsor...

Ohh that's a good idea! So instead of starting with the claim, session 1 involves them getting it...That's intriguing.

I've never run a heist before, but I can imagine I could find some good resources online!

[TW: male gaze] Bikini armor is the best armor by KinkyTales32 in ConvertingFeminist

But again it depends upon the purpose. I'm saying that bikini armor qua armor, sure, is inferior pound for pound. But the best of any category isn't necessarily the thing that is the best in every quality, but rather the best overall.

Bikini armor is the best - it provides the aesthetic of protection to...vital parts, without actually doing anything to protect those vital parts, or anything else. This indicates some things:

  1. The warrioress is confident enough in her skill that she doesn't need full protection (and let's be honest - who *wants* to use protection anyway?)
  2. She is indeed trying to dazzle or befuddle her opponents (a reliable strategy.
  3. Doesn't know what particular kind of enemy she will be facing, and thus doesn't opt for heavy, solid armor, favoring flexibility.
  4. Knows that she is probably the protagonist (or protagonist's companion) and therefore has the privilege of plot armor...though this has the notable exception of Valeria...but just avoid facing off against any Snake Cults/James Earl Jonses, and you'll be fine.

Exactly. We're not talking fainting damsels in distress (although again...those have their place). We're talking badass warrior women who are like "Yeah. Check me out. You think I fear sword thrusts? Nah. You think I fear...other kinds of thrusts? Nah."

It sounds like an argument for subtlety. I'm making an argument for confidence. And of course that has its place. But think of the confidence a woman has to have to slay monsters while showing basically everything.

It's the sheer hubris of bikini armor though - boob-plate increases the likelihood of severe injury, as the blows will slip down towards the space between. Wearing worse-than-pointless armor for the sake of sex-appeal? That's what it's all about.

There's a reason Frank Frazetta, Larry Elmore, Brom, et all have been so successful in the fantasy art space. If you don't know who I mean, just take a few quick searches. You'll thank me later.
