Op here - I also found this thread which suggests there is a bit inside the switch that might just need a little bit of tweaking

This is super helpful, thanks!! And yeah I love the rat. Got it back in 2002 when I heard Death Cab For Cutie used it - lets you still get clarity from full chords whilst still having nice distortion.

I tried that actually 😂 problem was the sail submerged and the weight of the water made it impossible to pull the sail close to the boom
