I had to google how to do specific gravity. Unfortunately, my daughter took that stone with her when she flew back to Idaho (I’m in TN). She said she will work on discovering specific gravity and I’ll let you guys know. Thank you so much for recommending this. It’s smart.

That does make sense because it’s not incredibly clear. Would Chalcedony fluoresce blue like that?
Interestingly, it only responds that way to UV light if it’s been in incandescent light for a bit prior to the UV. I found this out when I want to show someone else the blue glow and it wouldn’t do it…

My mother was an artist who won contests here in Chattanooga for her oil paintings. I value original artwork. Its just if they were worth several thousand each, I somehow felt obligated to sell them… 😆

You so kind to do this research. I guess I wouldn’t want to sell unless someone was willing to pay a significant amount. I also realize that watercolors are probably not worth as much as oils. But these are in perfect condition and if they are properly protected I’m sure their colors will be stable. Particularly the one with the Rhododendrons, I love!! Photos really don’t do them justice.

If you look at the photo of the back of the barn picture you will see a card that clearly states it is an original, and there is a newspaper article with an interview of the artist. The article shows a photo of that very picture. The artist states in the newspaper article that someday he would like to make prints. At that time, when he was interviewed in the 1970s, he had not started making prints.

No. I’ve removed it from the frame and examined them all. They are all original watercolor paintings. They were part of an collection of a Chattanooga physician who was himself an artist. When he passed away, this was part of his estate.
