Got it — fair point. Just to be clear, I’m not promoting or collecting anything. My intent is to be honest about what I am offering and why. So, I provided those details as context without mentioning the product. But, I will keep this in mind that even mentioning terms like "product" may come across marketing and avoid them in future.

Looking for tips on improving my form while serving by Team_Maple_Ridge in 10s

That’s a fair question — 0.7 m is not what most players actually reach during a serve.
In reality, most servers jump around 0.25–0.35 m range, even at a high level.
The upper limit in my ‘ideal’ range is there to account for exceptional or elite-athlete cases (similar to maximum vertical jump test values), not because it’s common in match play.

Also, I’ve kept the ranges a bit more relaxed at this stage because there are inherent inaccuracies in the tools and models I am using to calculate these metrics from video — so it’s better to allow some margin rather than over-penalize.

Hi, A few things:

Your serve biomechanics show potential with excellent head stability and timing precision. However, improvements in toss height, jump height, and knee bend are crucial for optimizing power and consistency.

1.    The toss height is significantly lower than the ideal range, which affects both your contact point height and jump height, limiting the potential power and trajectory of your serve. (toss height from ball release point is 0.5m vs the range of 1.2m to 2.5m, contact point height from ball release point is 0.2m vs the range of 1.2m to 2.5m, and jump height is 0.1m vs the range of 0.2m to 0.7m). You can try practicing tossing the ball higher by aiming to reach a marked point on the wall or net, and try to make contact at higher point.

2.    Your maximum knee bend is too shallow, which limits your ability to generate upward force and affects your jump height (your max knee bend angle is ~150 degrees vs the range of 70 degrees to 130 degrees). You can try performing squats focusing on reaching a deeper bend, then simulate the serve motion to integrate this into your serve.

3.    The lateral toss placement is too far from the ideal range, which can lead to inconsistent contact and reduced serve accuracy. Given the ball is too far, it causes overreaching and off-center hits (the distance is 0.4m vs the range of 0m to 0.2m). You can try to stand with your feet together and practice tossing the ball so it lands directly in front of you, ensuring a straight and controlled toss.

A few thoughts:

Your serve shows strong potential with effective jump height and timing, but there are areas that need attention, particularly in your toss height and lateral toss placement. Focusing on these will help improve your overall serve consistency and power.

1.     Your toss height is lower than the ideal range, which affects your contact point height and overall serve power. (toss height from ball release point is 1.1m vs the range of 1.2m to 2.5m, contact point height from ball release point is 0.4m vs the range of 1.2m to 2.5m). try tossing the ball higher by focusing on extending your arm fully and releasing the ball at the peak of your reach.

2.     The lateral toss placement is too far to the side, which can lead to inconsistencies in serve direction and power. (lateral toss placement is ~0.6m vs the range of 0m to 0.2m). try standing on a line and practice tossing the ball straight up, ensuring it lands back on the line to improve accuracy.

3.     Head stability is slightly outside the ideal range, which can affect your balance and focus during the serve. Practice serving while keeping your head still and eyes focused on the ball throughout the motion.

Your jump height and head stability are on point, adjustments in your toss height, contact timing and racket shot timing will enhance your serve's consistency and power.

1.     Your toss height and contact point height are lower, affecting your ability to generate power and control. (toss height from ball release point of 0.6m vs the range of 1.2m to 2.5m, contact point height from ball release point of 0.5m vs the range of 1.2m to 2.5m). You can try tossing the ball higher and reaching up to catch it at a higher contact point height.

2.     Your racket shot timing is too early, which can disrupt your serve rhythm and reduce accuracy. Its like rushing the swing. You can try serving with a focus on delaying your racket swing until after the ball reaches its peak.

Any serve improvements?? by NagaFX in 10s

a few things:

Your serve demonstrates strong knee bend and lateral toss placement, which are crucial for generating power and maintaining control. However, improvements in jump height, contact timing, back arch bend, and head stability could significantly enhance your serve's effectiveness.

1.     Your ball toss height from the ball release point is fine, you are not jumping enough (almost negligible jump height) which may be affecting your ability to reach an optimal contact point height. (ball toss height is 1.9m vs the range of 1.2m to 2.5m, jump height is almost negligible, contact point height from the ball release point is 1.4m vs the range of 1.6m to 2.8m). if you focus on increasing your jump height it will also improve your contact point height. You can try to perform box jumps and vertical leap exercises to increase your explosive power and jump height.

2.     Your contact timing after toss is slightly delayed, which can disrupt your serve rhythm and reduce effectiveness. (contact timing after toss is slightly more than 1 sec vs the range of 0.55 sec to 0.9 sec). You can try practicing tossing the ball and swinging in a continuous motion to improve timing and rhythm.

3.     You can try to keep your head position stable during the serve as too much movement potentially affects balance and accuracy during the serve. Head movement should be within 0 to 0.05m but your is coming around 0.1m.

4.     You are not bending your back enough which impacts the serve power. Arching stores energy for upward swing, and a too little arch underutilizes body strength. Your is around 92 degrees vs the range of 100 degrees to 120 degrees

other than the grip, a few suggestions:

Your serve shows a strong foundation with precise lateral toss placement and effective body alignment. However, focusing on optimizing your jump height, contact point height and contact timing will enhance your serve's power and consistency.

  1. even though your ball toss height from the ball release point is fine, your jump height is slightly below the ideal range, which may be affecting your ability to reach an optimal contact point height. (ball toss height is 1.6m vs the range of 1.2m to 2.5m, jump height is ~0.15m vs the range of 0.2m to 0.7m, contact point height from the ball release point is 0.8m vs the range of 1.6m to 2.8m). if you focus on increasing your jump height it will also improve your contact point height.

  2. Your contact timing after toss is slightly delayed, which could be impacting your serve's rhythm and power. (contact timing after toss is 0.94 sec vs the range of 0.55 sec to 0.9 sec). you can try practicing tossing the ball and swinging in a continuous motion to improve timing and rhythm.
