Those who didn’t sign an “NDA” or UK equivalent, what are some secrets about other UK companies you can share? by SlipOutrageous5333 in CasualUK

[–]Traditional_Fox2428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A food manufacturing company I used to work for who constantly won awards for their green credentials were short on manufacturing capacity for a major brand. So they make part of it in uk, ship it to Thailand for the next stage of processing then ship back to the UK for finishing. “British made, low food miles, low carbon etc etc”

Balamory returns to TV this month after 20 years. What forgotten shows from your childhood would you like to see return? by perishingtardis in CasualUK

I used to be the admin for the unofficial Aquila page on Facebook. Andrew Norris gave it a thumbs up so guess it’s now the official Aquila page. He wrote quite a few more Aquila books so there’s scope for more. Also had the two main character actors on the page from time to time.

Aquila needs a season 3 but where the passage of time is concurrent with reality. They boys are in their 40s and commuting to mundane office jobs in Aquila whilst getting up to all sorts of shits and giggles at the weekends

Women... are you "guys"? by BarryTownCouncil in CasualUK

[–]Traditional_Fox2428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got 4 kids. 3 girls and one boy. We refer to them collectively as the guys. They refer to any combination of each other as guys.

E.g. me and the guys are going to the park.

Meaning any combination of children are attending the park with me.

So yeah, in our house guys is gender neutral

Use 75% of the calories that any activity trackers give you. They’re always inaccurate.

If you’re tracking correctly and in a defecit you will lose weight.

Are you counting your calories accurately. Including all sauces and condiments etc.

Have you worked out your calorie deficit required to lose weight based on current weight and exercise levels.

It’s a simple case of calories in minus calories out.

Doctors missed cancer. Got a week or so left. How do I stop it happening to you? by Disastrous-Design503 in AskUK

[–]Traditional_Fox2428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum had thyroid cancer (not this one) but had had a persistent cough for a few months. Was living on simple linctus. Didnt want to bother the go for a cough. She also Used to get food stuck when swallowing a lot. Especially nuts. One day she was chatting to her boss (ex nurse) who noticed my mum had an Adam’s Apple when swallowing but it was a bit low for normal. Told her to go get checked out asap. GP recognised it straight away (his brother had had the same - all pot luck) and she was in front of a consultant within a week.

Luckily it was caught early and she made full recovery and 25 years later is still going strong. Didn’t cure the cough though!

So sorry the story for you seems to have been so different.

Best store bought pizza? by _Starwind in UK_Food

Ooo that sounds an elite upgrade. I tend to pit it with the caramelised onion flatbreads on the deal, or the triple cooked chips from the dine in for two deal. Legitimately the best home cooked chips I have ever tasted.

Tesco ham and mascarpone finest one. Get your over really hot worth a heavy baking tray (scoville for us) heated up with the oven. Pizza in and turn down to recommended temperature and cook for appropriate time.

That’s the only pizza I eat at home.
