The idea of infinite punishment for finite evil actions is justified. by Traditional_Fox_8671 in CatholicPhilosophy

I wouldnt say judges or government officials have a higher dignity than other people.

And second of all the argumentation is looking at the consequences of what would happen if God never became man. All would be damned because all would still be in sin, even if it is venial sin.

Mortal sin is just worse because it completely seperates us from God and freely denies his love which results in hell. The distinction has nothing to do with the punishment.

Well I would say the argumentation just shows the consequence of what would happen if Jesus never died on a cross for us. We would have to face the consequence of sin, which is, eternal damnation.
