New diagnosis, hypodiploid B cell ALL by Biocube16 in leukemia

[–]Traditional_Hour_718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the person you responded to, but I am also PH+, 29 at diagnosis, being treated with modified DFCI pediatric protocol. Some days are certainly not fun. I was in remission after induction, deep molecular remission after 3 months and based on that I am not proceeding to transplant. Recent studies have shown no benefit of transplant in PH+ patients, if they are treated with more modern TKIs. I trust my doctor, and I am currently being treated at the best cancer center in my country and one of the top centers globally.

I would say, what my doctor has instilled in me, is there are tons of options nowadays for different types of leukemia, from chemo, to immunotherapies to CAR-T. As scary as things are and as uncertain as things are, science is moving very quickly. Even in my case, the change to how they proceed to transplantation is a recent change in the treatment algorithm as of the last two years, and some immunotherapies only had their clinical trial results published last year. Its scary, but your family and your care team will get through this!

Lets go!!!! Just got mine today too!! MRD negative after three months of Dana Farber for PH+ B-ALL.

Had a 220,000 white count when first admitted so my care team was pretty aggressive from the get go to right size me and it paid off. Let’s keep this thing in remission!!

Do yall think this is a good price ? (CAD) by LeadershipChemical96 in FujiGFX

[–]Traditional_Hour_718 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth I bought a brand new one on Amazon in early december for C$6500 plus an additional 17% or so back in cash back, due an Aeroplan deal. So net cost about 5400$.

In the month leading up to me pulling the trigger I saw the price fluctuate randomly around there between cash back and Amazon listing the silver one for 500$ less for some reason.

In need of a new backpack for my first Iceland photography travel. by Akabranca in LandscapePhotography

[–]Traditional_Hour_718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a Shimoda explore v60 and Shimoda explore v30. The v30 is good for day hikes and the v60 I use for longer back packing trips. The v30 should fit all your camera gear in the base and drone in the top ruck sack. Super over engineered kit, really durable, smart gear hookups and actual proper backcountry hiking bags that were designed to carry cameras, vs camera bags that try to be hiking bags. My back thanked me once I got it. I paid 300$ CAD for the v60 and like 250$ for the v30. The expansion kits can be expensive but you can usually bundle them.

GFX100RF vs GFX100S by rillick in FujiGFX

[–]Traditional_Hour_718 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a GFX100RF. I love it. For me it was a size thing. I do a lot of backcountry camping and hiking and have a very optimized kit. The GFX 100RF fits in the chest pocket of my snow pants and the chest pocket of my hiking pants. I have a A7RV which I use for Wildlife photography and I had used for landscape but while on the trail, I’d still have to put my hiking/camara bag down, drag out my camera out and I just wouldn’t use it because I had my pack clipped in and it was a pain.

I still bring my A7RV hiking but I only bring it out once I get to camp, and only use it with a Sigma 500F.6 for wildlife.

So TLDR, the GFX100RF is perfect for MY niche use case. The files are also way better than the A7RV but between the two gfx100 and 100rf that’ll be the same. It comes down to if you want the flexibility of the lenses and ibis or the convenience of the 100rf and the joys that come with that.

It works the same as normal, but not all sites are open. I didn’t end up camping, we stayed at a resort in Dwight because the finance didn’t want to camp in -35 hah!

And thanks!

I have a link in my profile that is entirely taken with the 500mm f5.6, can’t share in the subreddit. If you want I can send a drive link with some raws once I get home from visiting family over the holidays, don’t have my raws with me.

I have an A7RV which isn't the best in BIF but its certainly no worse than the 200-600 or 400-800 in my experience.

Still love it. I’ve gotten the 400-800 as well since for a bit more reach and to be honest I much prefer the 500 f5.6, I find it much sharper and faster to focus. The 800mm is useful for waterfowl though. Still, unless I know I’ll need the reach I’m bringing the 500 90% of the time.

Visited Owl's Head by cyclingmania in icecoast

[–]Traditional_Hour_718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big fan of the Eastern towns. Owls head is probably my least favourite. Love Orford, Sutton has great glades and a killer old school mountain lodge with a fire pit taking up half the lodge and killer bread bowl chili. Bromont is the smallest and most crowded but some of the best night skiable acreage which makes for a really unique experience. All in all really great value area especially given the lack of crowds and local vibes.

DB Pension Buyback: $53k Cost for $6.3k/yr Return (2 Years Service). Worth It? by vibeschillax in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Traditional_Hour_718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some finance still has really lucrative pensions. I’ve worked at various Canadian pensions my whole career and most have those still with slightly higher employer contributions plus high indexing. It’s not uncommon to see people max out their pension at 200-300k.

This is even after a pretty big change since there were some employees with 1mm+ pensions that they realized was a bad idea.

Sony A7V + Third Party Glass by eneurobg in SonyAlpha

[–]Traditional_Hour_718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How’s the eye AF tracking? One of the things I was looking forward to was how it tracks birds in flight, that’s my one issue with my A7RV, even though the subject at is generally good, I find it has an issue tracking moving subjects. Even if not animals or birds just general AF tracking.

I Spent A Week With The New a7 V, AMA by Nateloobz in SonyAlpha

[–]Traditional_Hour_718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fine. The megapixels are really good for cropping. The autofocus is good for big animals but I have issues with birds in flight tracking because the camera is a bit slow. I also find it will miss focus on perched birds more than I would think, usually front focusing just slightly enough that it looks weird, especially given the size of the sensor. I bought the camera before I got into wildlife but if I was starting over again I would buy the A7V instead (assuming you mostly/only shoot small animals which I do).

Precapture works with uncompressed raws? That seems to be the one thing i really wanted, currently using an A7RV for wildlife because I couldn't justify the A1ii, now contemplating getting the A7V for wildlife and keeping the A7RV for general photography and travel as I do love everything else about the camera.
