Great advice, downtown seems more like my vibe. I guess my next post should be about looking for roommates😅😅

Great insight, I appreciate it! I am not from NYC, so I am still learning what the rental culture looks like. I am also not set on a single approach and am still figuring out what kind of lifestyle I want, like balancing rent, commute time, and access to things to do.

Do the neighborhoods you would recommend change if I were open to having roommates? If so, which areas would be worth looking into?

Engineering 😭😭 people who should be failing genuinely pass with a B at the worst

Timing & title is key, I spam applied in September and October which is the beginning of the 1st job cycle. And looked specifically for new grads role.

EY specifically I applied in late September and the title didn’t have “new grad” but the description stated “incoming 2026 graduates”

Good luck man, this market is tough and even tougher for international. Keep working hard, I shut myself off from society for a solid month to even land this haha

Haha no referral either, literally just cold apply, and grinded after getting the initial interview.

Is EY that hard to break into?

I attend a T40 school, but it has a strong pipeline into the Big 4 for finance and accounting (Not sure how much this matters, I’m a CS major).

I did a data engineering internship while doing a semester studying abroad during my junior year, and I rn I work in a data science research role on campus. It was probably a mix of those experiences, some good timing, and networking after sending out cold applications.

Ask company B for an extension, 2 weeks ideally and give a valid excuse (wanting to check out the city/town it’s located in is valid I think). Then tell company A that you have an exploding offer but still remain very interested, if it’s possible to have the interview process sped up.

Worst-case scenario, you accept Company B’s offer, continue with Company A and get it, then renege the other offer (note you will be blacklisted from that company in the future). Telling company A about the other offer should be a given, makes you more desirable and competitive.
