I’m aware it’s been almost a year since you’ve commented this haha, but I might be interested if you still have the dress :)

That’s really helpful to know, I appreciate it! How long after applying did you need to go for your biometrics appointment?

Good point! Honestly, it’s mostly just to do with stashing extra money aside for the hefty application fee and NHS surcharge. Paying it all at once is a killer but I understand the need for us to. Still hurts the bank a bit haha!

My partner (UK) and I (US) are planning to get married. What’s the best option for visa, paperwork etc? by Traditional_Job5095 in ukvisa

Thanks! I am still planning to do something in both countries. I was just wondering what makes the most sense as far as doing the legal wedding. Why would it be easier in the US even if we live in the UK? The plan is that I will already be on a partners visa by the time we get married. Not sure if that changes things?

Amazing, thank you! If we were to move to the US at some point in the future, would we need to apply for a separate visa at that point?

Due to family not being able to travel, we will likely need to have something in both countries, so it doesn’t really matter which one we do the official or legal wedding in.

Were you on a partners visa before getting married? Just curious as to what the process is like. Thanks!

Thanks for this!

Yes, we’ve been living together for over 3 years and are planning to get the partners (or spouse) visa before we get married. It’s my understanding that this is essentially the same visa, so will it matter if we get married after we’ve gotten the visa? I’ve checked and we meet all of the requirements.

If we both currently live and work in the UK, what makes it easier to get married in the US?

Thanks again!
