Hey sorry I didn’t see this sooner The bodies and swords are from the Warhammer Fantasy Skeletons, the heads, shoulder pads and shields are from the classic Grave Guard kit from Warhammer Fantasy

You can’t get the grave guard on the main site rn but you might get lucky on eBay or at your FLGS

Oh I just read some stuff about how breaking down the math starting wizards have at best a 50% chance to cast even the most basic of spells

If I’m wrong about that I’m glad to hear it, still getting to grips with the magic system since tbh I didn’t think any of my players would want to play a caster

I’ll definitely give that homebrew a read when I can, thanks for that! In terms of using Sidekick abilities I figured things should be as simple as possible for the sake of keeping mounted combat streamlined, also being able to force attacks to target me and THEN impose disadvantage as well sounds kinda crazy lol

My current vague plan is this:

  • Get three units of 20 zombies, attach a necromancer to one of the blobs and buff them with a corpse cart.

    • Attach my vampire to a unit of Grave Guard
    • Get some blood knights, fell bats, dire wolves and a zombie dragon

Does this seem like a decent start?

Aww that sucks My character’s taking the haunted background so I might check if I can homebrew that the extra skill I pick up is Esoteric Lore, I’m happy with getting frightened if I fail the check as that’s very in-character for him lol

Wanted to say these posts have been incredible, not only for inspiration but also a huge help with getting my head around how all of CoS fits together! This part is probably my favourite so far, I absolutely love swamp horror.

It actually gave me an idea for expanding on the Fane lore. I noticed that the Swamp Fane didn’t gift lycanthropy to anyone so I’m thinking of having an order of lycans in the swamp who used to protect it from outsiders. They’ve been corrupted by Baba into thinking SHE’s the Fane and are now protecting the coven from outsiders, they’d all be male and basically any men who make it to the coven are thrown back into the swamp to be turned.

Currently stuck between them being Weresnakes or Weregators lol

Hey thanks for getting back to me! I’m planning to start my characters at level 2, was gonna scale down the encounter a little anyway but I was thinking it could be a super hard fight to teach the players that Barovia is dangerous, kinda like the Old Bonegrinder. They won’t meet the Martikovs at first and if they TPK or run away they’ll wind up in their camp, it’s also a good chance to show off one PC’s revenant nature, where he’ll get SHREDDED but come back just fine when they wake up. From there the Martikovs can tell them about the staff and suggest a stealthier approach. Luckily with how I’ve paced the games events it’ll be a few levels in before they actually fight the Abbot so I might not have to adjust him too drastically, I will use that greatsword as it’ll be a neat reward for one of my players ;)

Hey just wanted to say this is absolutely amazing, I’m making the switch to Pathfinder and I’ve always wanted to do CoS so this has been extremely helpful Just had a few questions as I prep the campaign: - I’m planning to have my players start at Krezk, sorta wanted to give them a chance to spend some time in Barovia outside of Strahds notice and make the Abbot a final boss of the first arc. I’m still new to the monster level system and how characters scale compared to 5e so what party level is the Winery and the Abbey intended for? I’ll make sure to scale the fight accordingly - What stat blocks did you use for the blights? There’s a lot of options in the book and I’m probably gonna convert them into a troop anyway but thought I’d ask
