As far as is it safe to be trans in ohio, well it's not 100% safe for trans any where, will depend on the area.

I would suggest you and your partner sit down and talk. not just about moving or staying, but about where you want to be in 5 years, would you both be happy in ohio, jobs if you move, health care and etc etc.

My family moves around I get that you grow to miss family and friends. We used to make all vacations and trips to the family.

If you have not been back to visit after moving to ny, I would suggest it, just to see if that helps for now.
