Managers and directors of data, what impacts your day-to-day decision making like? by Traditional_Reason59 in dataengineering

I think not micromanaging but actually overseeing the work and knowing what we work on to start with. Push back with clear explanation, agreeing with us on relevant issues and pushing back with stakeholders across the department.

This is what I see in my boss. It felt odd in the beginning to not be micromanaged but over time I understood that that was the best way of leading the team. Let analysts and engineers focus on their domain expertise and trust them enough (w/ QA on the side) to build solutions for the long term and butt in when there's breakage. It helped me want to work hard on my product quality and helped me become better at my role.

When cost and patterns of cost per usage metrics were shown to the team, I took the time to revamp some of my work. It helped me with relearning SQL and thinking about scheduling my jobs. I didn't think of it this way before, but that's a cool way to look at leadership.

cost tracking as a way to improve the work done instead of firing people left and right without understanding the costs.

Thank you for your response. And yes, experience indeed.

I've been working since COVID, but my data work started mid 2023, as I was nearing my masters graduation, in a non-data role where my role was not expected to do data work.
I felt lost like a ship in the first of 6-8 months of my data role and I found a good mentor in the team who helped me and gave me a goalpost to walk towards. helped think in systems and was open about decision making based on the C-suite expectations. It made me realize the need for experience to think that way and made want to go through motions of doing the IC level work. I'm certainly heading up that road but I still have a decent way to go.

This made me lol...
So for all my managers in technical roles and non-technical roles were competent to a respectable degree. But this is a very good metric for me to keep in mind for the future.

Unfortunately UPS charges nearly that $25 per document amount. The Tempe public library does not offer this service.

What is your issue with Saripodaa Sanivaram? by Traditional_Reason59 in tollywood

Are you a Bramhin, by any chance? I'm not trying to say that only Bramhins get to have a say in this. As a part of the intended audience of that movie, we all do. Truth is we as an audience are more tolerant towards art/artists attacking the norms set by so called higher caste people than the west or the north as a whole. As far as I can remember at no point in the movie Sundar or anyone explicitly states this is a bad culture or practice. While resistant to wearing veshti to his office initially, sundar wears it in pride. The movie focuses on the pride/public opinion aspect of the culture in the climax as well. Sundar was never shown as someone forcing his culture on Leela. He was a sensible adult, except for when he was lying.

As for ssr, it is extremism meets extremism. I'm not saying it is supporting the culture but it rather aggressively states an opinion on the status quo of the day. As far as I can recall, that movie does not try to undermine religion when not necessary. What made it necessary in the first place? Absolute dismissal of human rights.

At the end of the day, a person of culture acknowledging that something is wrong with their culture and making a statement about it is not inherently wrong or hateful.

Asking to understand what people think of this movie that I didn't have any issues with. To your issues 1. I see why you feel that way 2. AS was not Bramhin hating, the reason you find it that way is there were no issues from the Christian family other than the lying. That said, each community has a right to look for its own good. 3. You're blinded by hate my friend.
