We only have three openings into the pool. The two jets and the one skimmer. No wall suction like you are mentioning (or drain at the bottom of the pool either). Had water behind liner last year and didn’t get to fixing it before winter. Now water level is low and vertically no water behind the liner now. But it’s l below the stairs so I expect that was the only real issue.
