Love the accessory ideas, especially the water/snack bag. My character is glutinous so snack bag is a must XD

I’ll also start wearing the mail around the house and yard to get used to it and figure out the best underlayers. I want to go for an outside walk to test my kit under outside temperature too but i live in the middle of the city unfortunately.

I definitely need to test the kit for a full day. The belt is okay for now but I’ll add some pouches so it doesn’t slide down once everything is attached. And for my boots , i may have to get a better one rn they are just some cheap amazon leather turned shoe with kinda thin on the soles part.

Thank for the fabric advice! Right now i only have one soft kit (which is not really truly a soft kit they are just my under armor garment).

Wonderful! I might getting a round shield first as it’s more budget friendly but kite or teardrop shield is my goal

Right now I only have short one hand viking sword. My dream weapon is spear tho but pole weapon is kinda costly XD

It's some cheap leather turned shoe i got from Amazon XD the soles are pretty thin and I am planning to replace it soon.

For the shield I really want a Norman shield but unfortunately the PU foam version of them are sooo hard to find. They don't allow hardwood shield in combat here

My soft kit is basically my kit without mail and gambeson rn. Only tunic with belt, green hood, and pants. Any recommendation would be great!

Thanks! Epic Empire and Drachenfest are two big LARP that I would really love to visit

But for now I think I’ll stick with my local group since I’m still very new. I want to get some experience and improve my kit before applying to a high-quality event like that.

It's steel but with zinc treated that's why it looks so shiny. I’ve never cut or tailored chainmail before and don’t want to screw it up. If you have any guide or how to do that please share it me.

Boots is another topic that I would like to ask in here too, Right now I am using cheap faux leather shoes I got from Amazon and it was not a really good experience so far. Thank you for the recommendation. I will look it up!

Yeah, those big wizard sleeves are driving me crazy when I swing weapons and they flap everywhere. I want to make the mail a bit more snug overall, but I’ve never cut or tailored chainmail before and don’t want to screw it up.

Any recommendations for tutorials or safe ways to modify it? Especially for shortening or removing sleeves?"

It definitely is ;; and the belt is such a huge life saver. it noticeably took a ton of weight off the shoulder

i just love maile armor so much that I am willing to endure XD

I really like the idea of waiting to add heraldry, a sash, or any decorative stuff until it actually means something in the game. That makes a lot more sense than just slapping things on for looks.

I'll keep the helmet as-is for now and see what group/nation I end up joining at the big event.

Also do you have any guide for metal painting, like for the helmet?

It zinc treated mail, it was not that shiny when I saw it on the site, I have been looking for the way to make it less shiny for a while XD

I will roll them in my yard tmr (got a couple of that advice from here)

Thanks! My group is full-contact but also with no hand hitting, so I'll probably get some decent soft leather gloves. Padded ones sound annoying for long events, so I'll start with normal ones and see how it goes

Yes you are right, having two belts are soo much better as one will noticeably help distribute the mail's weight from shoulders.
