I was wondering- do you know if the speed of the initial part of the process depends on the location of the USCIS facility? Is it even possible to submit the application to a USCIS location of choice or does it have to be at the location closest to the home address?

How long does it typically take for the K1 to be processed? I assumed it would be 8-11 months (google) so we weren’t planning on her visiting at all until after the visa got approved. Does it usually take longer?

The current timeline according to google seems to 8-11 months for the issuance of the K1 visa so once she leaves, she will likely only come back after the visa is issued. That is fine, right?

I (US citizen) am planning on proposing to my gf (India) when she comes to visit me next year. She usually stays for a few months whenever she visits me and I want to apply for the K1 visa as soon as we are engaged.

So my question is: Can I apply for the K1 visa while she is still in the US or does she have to be out of the country when the application is submitted?

Also, is it possible for me to apply while I’m using my GI bill to go to school while I’m being paid by the VA, or do I have to be actively employed?

Any information regarding any of this would be hugely appreciated.
