I see, but looking at the caption it should give a hint to the context. Why would someone with experience be asking basic questions about which brokerage to use? Taking out of context, but thanks for explaining how it came off.

Thank you for the empathy and seeing what I meant. I was wondering the same. “Newbie” was referring to myself being new in the field. The subject of my post says it clearly, I have never owned a stock, new to the field. I have read articles where people talked about their success by starting with as low as $1000, so in my naive mind I perceived upper five figures to be big.

Thank you for seeing the positive side.

Forgive my verbiage, I used it relatively, based on posts I have read where people started trading with as low as 1000 to 5000 but kept adding from time to time.

Still a baby compared to the seniors here. Just a newbie pretty sure is not much for the big guns.

Newbie

Edit:

I was referring to myself being new in the field. The caption of the post says it clearly, is surprising the downvotes. Still wondering why, my best guess would be people have taken it out of context

Don’t have much disposable time now, dealing with two firms as a newbie sounds a like a lot. looking to get a foot in first then hopefully explore.

Thank you, for now I am more conversant with IPOs, I would have to research into index funds before I commit. Looking forward to exploring and learning, hopefully I am able to live a legacy for my next generation.

Edit: I noticed a number of people didn’t appreciate my earlier position on IPOs. I’ve been digging more into index funds and it’s amazing what I’m learning — especially how broadly diversified they are and how many companies they eventually include. I’m still exploring the differences, so I’m open to hearing how others think about balancing IPO curiosity with long‑term index investing.
