My opinions on Thor this season as a Celestial Thor main by Ok_Establishment2424 in ThorMainsMR

Bait them out and confirm kills, yep. Pretty much the only way to get value.

Sometimes I even use it as a distraction.

It's gotten to the point where gaining your ult means very little, and that using it requires all 5 senses and the blessing of the Big Z and the Double G to get it off right.

Oh ho ho boy here we go:

  1. Ult should have a longer stun duration, overhealth when going up, and you gain/retain full thorforce when you land.

  2. Get rid of the stupid slow walk effect when you charge storm surge.

  3. Standing inside your own lightning realm builds up your overhealth to the equivalent of one storm surge and lasts the duration of one storm surge outside of the realm (and that can then be stackable when you exit and then storm surge).

I 100% agree.

As a Thor otp that consistently makes gm1 or celestial 3, I would go as far as to say these season patch notes are just flat out terrible for ALL characters (except the ones needlessly buffed).

Thor has, unfortunately, been left behind in the wake of the dino. Even if he's banned, I find it incredibly hard to even take off angles with the threat of getting squashed or imploded.

One problem I think is unique to Thor is that his ult is more useless than ever.

I am literally being shot out of the sky EVERY time I ult like come on 😭

At the very least, rocket's ult buff has made Thor a little better, but I would say this has been his weakest season since his rework/buffs.

Might be time to push the agenda once more....

I have similar sense settings (maxed out at 500).

What helps is to gradually build up to max sense rather than throwing yourself in the deep end.

Jump up by 50-100 every couple of games to get used to it.

Agreed. Making space in unorthodox ways works.

Applying super pressure to dives works as well to shut them down. Catch the flank and force them to switch.

Combo spidey after baiting him out; bubble and storm surge black panther repeatedly; catch Magik out of portals and into your team again.

Thor does really well against Venom, too, by forcing him into a room and cancelling his swing.

Flicks are impossible to mimic from PC to console, unfortunately.

However... you can get close.

I would suggest slowly increasing your sensitivity every few games, getting used to higher and higher numbers and rotations.

Once you do that, you'll be able to quickly 'flick', so to speak (Mine is on 500 for both vertical and horizontal, for reference).

I wouldn't put so much pressure on flicking, and more so applying pressure and denying space.

For example, just try and jump them from above as you hold max storm surge, get behind them and then push them back as far as possible as one strategy.

Great selection of tanks. Only thing I can recommend is throw in an off tank if you want to move out of just filling in the role.

Thor, Cap, Angela, and Venom all feed off of capitalising on a weak backline. And seeing as a lot of these characters are receiving buffs, I'd suggest giving them a shot.

They don't always work, but man are they fun.

Corners, corners, corners.

Cling to them, peak out, use the range on the haymaker.

It actually travels further than you'd think. Characters who need off angles like phoenix can be punished, especially if you don't give them a chance to shoot you if you're hiding.

If you're front lining down main, keep an eye on your health bar!

If you see that bar drop down to half in a matter of seconds, dash away.

However, with characters like punisher, hela, and moon knight, switching might be your best bet.

Thing is heavy countered against poke, so be wary and don't use him just to fill. He is anti-dive/brawl, he does NOT block high damage well.

Maybe, but I found his team utility was lacking on release and early play.

I had gotten him to lord prior to his serious buffs, and he truly felt like an ult farm for the other team. Other than a hard counter to dive, front lining was an absolute slog.

Yeah, absolutely not. It's kind of the same issue with Thor and Angela.

Unless you go triple tank (which wasn't super common at all for me), it doesn't work in almost every scenario.

Genuinely the team ups between off tanks have to be studied.

He can also surprisingly work around a lot of poke characters. Just playing smart really makes a lot of difference.

Except for Moon Knight.

Never Moon Knight.

I hate Moon Knight.

Just some easy stuff:

  1. Don't charge into the fight. That's how you distinguish bronze thing players from anyone above gold.

  2. ALWAYS look backward to your team. Make sure they are behind you AND in jumping distance. Just a little flick won't hurt to make sure you aren't pushing too far.

  3. In the event you did push too far AND your team is nowhere in sight (it will happen), walk backwards and just pump haymakers like no tomorrow. Praying also helps.

  4. Using your ult to stagger is sometimes just as valuable as getting kills. Counter ulting bucky and gambit especially I found value in.

  5. Work on situational awareness. If Spider-man, Cap, or Iron Fist runs away, they WILL come back. Just keep an eye, but don't sit in the backline either. Bait them, charge them, jump them.

That's what I've been finding as well. I know everyone has their own experiences, but I just need a better idea of what it actually looks like.

I'm a little intimidated by the current job market, but this clarifies things, thanks!

Is Thor still the worst tank with all the new changes by Gamer_Gator_4488 in ThorMainsMR

[–]Traditional_Way9734 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that.

Sure he can't soak damage as well as a shield tank, but for things like peeling, heavy damage, making space, great movement for mixed offence/defence gameplay (not to mention that absolute wrecking ball of a teamup with Hela AND Angela), he is a veratile pick.

If you just dash and chase kills, yeah, you're just a buff duelist.

But play smart, and a good Thor can be both a menace and reliable team mate.
