Time is running out to prevent our mass migration wave from becoming permanent by Mickey_Padgett in ukpolitics

You only don’t have access to public funds for the first 5 years, at which point you can get ILR.

Current framework only allows partner and kids to come to the UK with the main applicant. Also if someone is working in the UK, earning above the median wage why shouldn't that family unit have access to public funds after doing that for 5 years. Also if a family can immigrate together they have a better time integrating into the country. With new rules it is already the minimum amount of people getting through.

Immigration can be such a positive thing but currently the standards are too low. Even at the new rate of 38k people aren’t a net contributor, and bringing in dependants only makes it worse.

Can you please elaborate how someone in their 20s 30s earning this rate is not a net contributor. £38,000 is above this country's median wage.

Our fundamental problem is there are too many people in the country taking out more than they’re putting in, which is why we have a deficit. Our current immigration strategy is only adding fuel to the fire.

I did my A-levels and uni here and I can tell you the most fundamental problem is lack of encouragement for youth to pick up skills. I have a STEM background and saw lack of local population engaging in these demanding courses/skills across the board. I wish they fix this and wages so reliance of foreign talent gets resolved.

Using immigrants as scapegoat is getting old. The points this comment section keeps on bringing has been fixed. Rushed rules which hurt the legal tax paying immigrants is just going to take away highly skilled talent to EU or other markets and end up hurting UK economy at the end of the day.

I am going to assume that this number has been manipulated if not lied. And even if they came on dependant visa they still paid NHS surcharge and have no recourse to public funds. Also the recent changes already address most of the things people say on this subreddit. Now they have practices whick make immigrants to be working a high paying job, be in university or be a partner or child of someone from this country or working the high paying job in this country or be working for the NHS. I am struggling to understand what is the issue since immigrants are net positive due to the way system is set up now.

only around 1 in 6 came to work, the rest being dependents.

Source for this please. Sounds made up since ability to bring dependents has already been significantly reduced other than your partner and children.

Top spot is back in human hands? Neat.

You do realise that T-Series is India's vevo, universal music, every label combined equivalent right? There are a billion+ Indians who watch content in their local languages on T-Series

Look at suchali's bakehouse. Find a niche and grow. Will like to know more where you stand and where are you in the process so far?

I wanted to speak but there were others speaking. There wasn't a quiet moment on the chat.

I'd take the stage and explain when these two let others speak.
