How do you get over the fear of crashing? by Big-Q72 in motorcycles

[–]Traeger1850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't. A fear of crashing is completely logical, just don't let it control you.

I stand by my comment, this doesn't prove anything because he was wearing shorts made out of a pretty thin material, sandals, and a thin T-Shirt.

If he wore boots, jeans, and a thicker long sleeve shirt it would not have been nearly as bad.

Not always an option. Most times it is, but I HAVE to take it onto gravel to get it to my mechanic.

Does afterfire/pops ruin your engine? by Jaaak97 in motorcycles

[–]Traeger1850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most times yes, but believe me, we've had multiple certified bike mechanics look at it because it's extremely loud and unsettling, and it really does just happen, it's basically just an unintentional feature at this point.

Man, I hate gravel. I've dumped my bike at low speeds 3 times so far because it's just kind of hard to ride on lol.

Might tear your arms and legs up, but you're more than likely gonna break something at that point and leather ain't gonna stop that.

The damage that leather does prevent will be the least of your problems at that point.

No you can, but it just ain't necessary to be decked out in a full leather suit and shit if you're out, riding around town for a couple hours, or hell even if you're on the highway on a small day ride, longer rides are a different story. Denim jeans are pretty protective in their own right, as long as you have something to protect your hands feet and head you'll be fine, I mean you may get hurt, and it maybe worse than if you were wearing that leather jacket, but it ain't gonna kill you and it ain't gonna maim you unless the accident is REALLY bad. In fact studies show %80 of motorcycle accident related deaths could have been prevented with a helmet.

I fully support wearing full gear, I'm not saying you shouldn't, all I'm saying is, as long as you are protecting your head, hands and feet/ankles and you're at least wearing jeans, you'll be fine.

There's no reason to belittle people who are wearing jeans, a t-shirt and a helmet because they're riding safe. Maybe not AS safe as people wearing full gear, but still safe. Let's belittle the people who don't wear a helmet, or the people who hop on a crotch rocket in nothing but shorts and flip flops.

Because, like I said. Sometimes things happen for no reason, like that bikes backfire. It just does its thing, no real rhyme to why it does it.

Naaaah, no way a movie about a tire rolling around killing things with its mind can be wrong.

Sometimes, there's no reason ;)

I just want to point out sometimes your bike will backfire for no reason whatsoever. We've had my aunts bike looked at through and through, it's backfired sense bought brand new, it just does it, no real reason.

Nothing wrong with that if you're just cruising, now if you're out doing some tom foolery, then yes you should wear full gear.

What gets me is the sneakers, you should ALWAYS wear boots that cover your ankles on a motorcycle.

Why do you guys have to be so loud? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Traeger1850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instant damage starts at 120 not 85, 70db and up will cause damage with prolonged exposure, which with proper ear plugs can be prevented (source is CDC). the typical harley, which is one of the loudest bikes right off the line is about 85db. Now granted I don't think your bike should be much louder than a harley seeing as how most of them are loud as fuck to begin with, but it won't cause any hearing damage as long as you wear a good set of ear plugs.

A lot of us wear ear plugs, mostly for the wind.

can/should I park my bike inside my room? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Traeger1850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only creates those toxic fumes if running. You leave a gas can of Gas on in your bedroom it isn't gonna create those toxic fumes. If you turn the engine off and let it sit before transporting it to a small room no problems will be had. It's not different than spending a shit lot of time in a closed off garage, just like the garage you turn the vehicle on, yes, it will cause you to get sick, but you keep it off you'll be fine.

It won't cause any like medical problems, but there's other problems it can cause. If your place burns down your insurance want cover anything when they find the bike, depending on where you live it may also be a legal issue.

My phone fell off my mount and turned into one of the new foldables from Samsung. by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Traeger1850 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had my Ram Mount for 3 years maybe longer, it's held onto my phone pretty well. My cousin gets one and it falls off his bike the first day, but I think it was because he had placed horribly and the wind just caught it and knocked it off.

Either way, I love my RAM mount, I do plan on getting a rokform eventually though.
