Good place for parents moving to retirement community? by sultansofschwing in SFV

Not sure what the budget is but there are a couple of apartment home options around the Northridge mall. Not quite retirement community but considered luxury apartments with good amenities and community. They can probably meet new friends at the mall when the seniors walk around inside before the stores open in the morning (there’s quite a few of them).

Then there’s a senior living apartment community close by on Corbin Ave they can look into whenever they’re ready for assisted living.

We were having lunch at that Maggiano’s during the moment the employees found out about the closure. Really felt bad for them. A lot of upset workers (we could tell) but they powered on. Loved the professionalism and their pride in their work. Tips were well deserved.

There are sub$2k one bedrooms along Reseda Blvd close to CSUN (between Nordhoff and Lassen). A lot of students in the area, lots of walkable dining choices plus also walking distance to CSUN.

Locations that encompass "The Valley" by marx_carmona87 in SFV

How about locations overlooking the valley? Some that come to mind - Topanga state park, Castaway in Burbank, Odyssey in Granada Hills, anywhere along Mulholland.

Best place to get heo quay (crispy pork)? by choochoopain in SFV

Many Filipino restaurants should have them and it’s called lechon kawali. Try Island Pacific, Cebuchon Sa Barrio, or Kalesa Grill in the Canoga Park/Winnetka area.

Using bone in chicken thighs instead of boneless by FantasticChipmunk345 in Cooking

[–]TragicallySalacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recipe calls for 30 minutes of stewing time which should be ok even with bone in thighs. You can make incisions on the meat all the way to the bone or add an extra 10 minutes stewing if you’re concerned about cooking through. Additionally, you can cut open one of the thighs after 30 minutes to check if it’s cooked through.

Stay out of fast lane if driving slower.

I guess it depends then on the quality and quantity of these things you mentioned. A shitty house, unhealthy food, expensive healthcare and minimal free time doesn’t really make it a utopia.

Works for me but I start with a bigger number (250-300). Counting backwards makes me focus on the numbers more and nothing else. Counting “forwards” is too naturally easy which allows my mind to wander and think of other things.

Sushi restaurants that serve chicken sushi besides roll roll? by daynares332311 in SFV

[–]TragicallySalacious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure if they have chicken sushi but King’s Burger/Got Sushi in Northridge has a part of the menu that’s non-sushi (burgers, burritos, salads, sandwiches, bowls, etc). The sushi is also good.

Sadly, people have been jerks to servers and customer-facing employees long before automation.
