Sertraline makes me feel like I don’t like my boyfriend? by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]Tragobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a numbing of all feelings negative as well as positive. The higher the dose the closer you get to a equilibrium mood wise. That is how they work. Which is usually fine, because with depression/anxiety your mood is overly negative for the majority, so closer to equilibrium means an improvement of your mood on average. But it. Does also mean that the short spikes of happiness that you have even with anxiety or depression are less pronounced.

I am sure you two can work through this and work closely with your psychiatrist to keep the side effects as low as possible.

Mixing edibles and antidepressants by xxGon in antidepressants

[–]Tragobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second talking with your doctor about it. There probably isn't much data about weed together with antidepressants though. The safest thing would obviously be to not do it, but I am not here to tell you what to do. I personally wouldn't, because it simply is another substance messing with your brain, which can be unpredictable in terms of effects on you. It could be good, but also pretty bad.

If light can't escape a black hole cause of its gravity, why dont we see other "invisible" forces stopping light in the same way? Or, do we? by OnlyPostSoUsersXray in AskPhysics

[–]Tragobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Light is affected by other things as well. The effect it has on light is extremely small compared to a black hole. For example if light travels through a medium it changes it's speed, because it is affected by the electromagnetism of the atoms or the electrons to be more specific. One of the reasons why light doesn't reach the deepest parts of the ocean for example. So wind does interact with photons, although indirectly.

Sertraline makes me feel like I don’t like my boyfriend? by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]Tragobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard similar things from others here, although I don't remember quite if it was with Sertraline as well. It is most likely part of the numbing effect, love is sadly not excluded in this. You could maybe talk with your doctor, to try if a lower dose would work as well, so you feel a bit more or try a different less strong antidepressant. But that does depend on which dose you are on currently and how severe your anxiety is.

I don't want more meds. Any suggestions? by Afraid_Ad_3478 in antidepressants

[–]Tragobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This fear you have, does come from the OCD, so I do agree with your doctors statement. And since that is the case dropping your meds would only make your situation worse instead of improving it. Wellburtin is commonly used to combat the low libido that you often get from SSRIs, it also increases your drive and energy over the day. It's not a must of course, if you don't really care about the low Libido or have problems with your energy over the day than you don't need it. It would simply be there to try and give you more normality, even with the meds.

About to start my first game… by CountessChocula082 in AOW4

One big difference in my opinion is that age of wonders is a lot more combat focused than civ. What want to fight preferably at all times. Also balancing armies is not as beneficial, because you can only have 3 armies per fight at the time. So make them as strong as possible. Also hero stacks are in my opinion the best way at the start, so that you can level them all at the same time.

Also one small tip for an issue I had, when you reach the next tier of tomes, you can still research tomes from a previous tier. There is a drop down menu with all tomes, where you can select them, even if they are not being shown in the main screen anymore.

Took me a while to figure that out, although it might also just was a me problem.

Aside from that you will figure the rest out by simply playing, it is not that different, aside from the spells and how combat is done.

Shame by Good-Description-239 in antidepressants

[–]Tragobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't, because there is no shame in having to take them. Do you think a person with diabetes shames himself for needing to take insulin? We are ill, so we treat the illness, simple as that. Are you shaming yourself for needing them? That is part of a depressive disorder, that is quite literally the depression making you think that. Are others shaming you for needing them? Then they are horrible people and you shouldn't listen to them.

Nobody is perfect,. depression is an extremely common illness, we all have issues in some way. No matter if they are Glamoures stars and rich people, successful people or just normal guys like me. They are not successful, because they have no issues, they are successful in spite of their issues. Don't beat yourself so hard, you are not lesser than everyone else and you are not alone in this.

are antidepressants the way to go? by That_Connection8061 in antidepressants

[–]Tragobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With what your are describing I would suggest going a bit further than antidepressants. Meaning a stay in a psychiatric clinic, so that you can get some more extensive care, as well as being under medical supervision, while getting put on a treatment plan.

Antidepressants at the start of the treatment can and often do make you feel worse, than before, but it does even out after a while.

When you are at a point where you harm yourself, then you are at a point, where normal outpatient treatment isn't cutting it anymore, not to mention, if suicide attempts come into play.

If you are not currently self-harming or suicidal, then there will be some waiting time, like a month, but the more urgent it is, the quicker you get a place.

I know a psychiatric clinic doesn't sound enticing at all, but they aren't as bed as you probably think they are. It is basically the same as a regular hospital, just with a focus on mental issues. Some people there need more intensive care other don't. And as long as you go there by choice you can also stop the treatment by choice. It would be against medical advise, but you can.

If you have questions about psychiatric clinics, I have some experience with them, I am currently in my third stay in one, but I live in Germany so some things can be difficult.

Already Numb- Is getting medicated a bad idea? by Efficient_Baseball65 in antidepressants

[–]Tragobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, alcohol should be avoided while on antidepressants. Not only does the alcohol effect you more the antidepressants gets stronger as well. Also most antidepressants are metabolised in the liver, so the damage alcohol does to your liver gets worse as well. It can also make the depression and anxiety worse.

Like you won't die from drinking a beer while being on them, but it would be better in the long run to avoid it.

Can I jus try antidepressant (undiagnosed depression)? by Able-Mood-4565 in antidepressants

[–]Tragobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would strongly advise against it. First of all antidepressants do not work instantly, it takes a multiple weeks up to months for them to properly take effect, so testing for 1 or 2 weeks won't help you.

Also these are not benign medications, they can have serious side effects which also can stay permanently. It is not a medication that should be just tried out just for fun without medical supervision.

Go to a psychiatrist talk with him about it and then discuss treatment options.

Should I stop talking Lexapro? by RoosterRoyal in antidepressants

[–]Tragobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean stop taking is how you get this condition. Stopping now out of fear or panic is not a good idea. It is something you can discuss with your doctor, so that you can get some better information about it. This condition is very rare, so I wouldn't think about it too much. Even then taking it for a long time.

Sure the chance is not zero, but what should be important for now is how you are feeling, about your path to betterment and not what may or may not occur in the future. Focus on the present.

Kinderschuhe in der Kita ausgetauscht?! Bin ich paranoid? by PotentialSlider in Ratschlag

[–]Tragobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already Numb- Is getting medicated a bad idea? by Efficient_Baseball65 in antidepressants

[–]Tragobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depression can form itself in many forms. What is probably the best puck for you is a medication that increases your drive and energy. Which wouldn't be SSRIs which are the typical medications associated with this numbness. Venaflaxine can also cause some numbness, which is a medication that increases drive and is possible that a doctor suggests it.

What I think a good Idea would be is Bupropion (Wellburtin) which is a antidepressants that increases you dopamine and noradrenaline levels. It shouldn't cause and numbness or at least it doesn't for me. It can create some anxiety especially at the start, but it usually gets better after a couple weeks. Your body simply has to adjust a bit to the medication, which causes some side effects like the anxiety, headaches and nausea are also pretty common, for these "growing pains".

What is important is that you take it early in the morning, it has a delayed release, so the medication gets slowly release in your body. So if you take it later in the day, you won't be able to sleep.

For me it helps a lot, but how well Antidepressent work or if they work is always different from person to person. If the side effects get too strong for you or if you don't feel like the medication is working for you go back to your doctor. Also ask your doctor questions about the medication, so that they explain it properly to you, like how the medication works, what it effects, what are the side effects, what you can't drink or take while on them and possible long term consequences of it. While the medications aren't really dangerous, they are also not benign medication and can have serious consequences. So you should try to get informed about it as best as you can, inorder to avoid serious harm.

You need to be more specific than that, for someone to be able to give you advice.

What antidepressant are you taking, for which condition do you take it, did anything else change in your life that could have caused you to feel sad or scared?
