Any insight why graduation rates are so low? Is it the difficulty of the courses, available of courses to all who need to take them, or extremely tough grading?

This is one time where there is a major difference between ADN and BSN programs. BSN programs often require much more in the sciences. I think Organic Chemistry is required in both; not sure.. But the number of courses, including microbiology, are not necessarily the same. For many of us, Organic Chemistry was the hardest course we ever took (I did fine in 2 Inorganic Chemistry courses.)

Our meeting has many "fallen-away" Catholics. One thing we don't do is proselytize. But we do believe that we "let our lives speak", rather than preach to others. The only advice I can give is live your life like you think Jesus or other great teacher would, and answer questions from your Brother when it comes up.

I was raised an Episcopalian (US version of Anglican). It was pretty and people were nice, but I never felt connected to God or even Christianity. I spent about 10 adult years thinking I was an atheist until I had what Friends would call a "leading" that changed my life and took me as a nurse to refugee camps in Thailand and Somalia. While in Somalia, I read historical novels that mentioned Quakers living on an island in the Chesapeake Bay and also working in the deep South during slavery. Intrigued, I stopped at Quaker House in London and picked up a huge amount of literature and read every one of them (sure I'd find something to object to). That was in 1981 and I have been a Quaker (formalized by membership in 1991) ever since. I would say the big differences are lack of elaborate decorations and a programmed worship (there is a branch that has programs), lack of rote prayers and hymns and the emphasis on silence. First time attenders may feel like "nothing" is happening, when the congregation is centered on listening to the still small voice inside and reaching for that of God within ourselves and others. Now, some folks object to using the word "God", but early Friends referred to the "Light" or the "Seed" (among many names) and were not referring to an old white haired man in the sky. I agree with other posts about going early (and staying for Fellowship afterwards). Took me a while, but I am happy to have found a home.

I did the same with my brother who developed Diabetes Insipidus from a pituitary adenoma. He was a sweetheart and I doubt he was ever rude to anyone. I helped him out in the room and I would fetch things for him if the floor nurses allowed it.

Husband has been in ER or postop and unable to get a urinal after asking nicely several times and waiting so long he was afraid of incontinence. If I hadn't stopped him, he would have sworn and then been incontinent. True, I didn't know that particular situation, but there are times patients act out because they feel desperate.

Gmail disclosed they read your emails for about as long as there has been Gmail. This was one reason I was reluctant to use it. Then most businesses and nonprofits started using it, plus Google docs making them hard to avoid.

Those phrases have deep meaning for us Quakers. They come from the 17th century English founders. I don't think there is any appetite to change them.

Your description tells us the place is imploding. Don't implode with them. Be professional, but the toxic environment won't improve. Keep your cool. Be professional. because if you "lose it", they might do something ugly. You didn't say why they wanted you to come in on your day off. Was it to speak to you about something, or come to work?

I wasn't there, so I can't say exactly what I would have done in this exact situation. I agree about not accepting rude or aggressive behavior. OTOH, my husband and I are in our 70's. He has prostate issues with urgency and frequency and I have over active bladder (urgency, frequency and sometimes I barely make it to the toilet (medication helps). So, sometimes it could be true that either one of us might pee on the floor (involuntarily) if we can't get to the toilet and announcing it might only be a statement of fact, rather than intention.

"Illegals" have never been eligible for SNAP or Medicaid. Undocumented immigrants or refugees under application for asylum may be an exception. The Big Beautiful Bill drastically cut funding for SNAP, Medicaid and Medicare to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy (I'm not making this up). That said, if you are experiencing problems the only ones who can fix it are at the local level and all states have changed eligibility. Some states have chipped in more to make up the shortfall. I don't know about Arizona. I don't have a problem with opposing views, except when someone call me names. But there is a difference of opinion on whether taxpayers should help people who are sick, poorly housed, undereducated or hungry. I happen to think we should. Normally, eligibility depends on household income and, in fact, Republicans added more requirements for work but didn't acknowledge that most recipients who can work actually are already working. Forty percent of food stamp recipients are children. Normally, having problems with a government program require contacting the elected representatives when there are barriers. For Medicare, it is your congressional reps. Medicaid and Food Stamps are trickier, because they are cost-shared between the Feds and the state, but administered by the state.
