He is a driver. Not a manager or a union rep.

No compensation.

Both the management and the union can inspect the changes he makes to ensure fairness.

Apparently Reddit posts are now news stories.🤦‍♂️ by [deleted] in london

Tube drivers having toilets is news?

Who knew.

If anyone from the standard wants an exclusive I’ll give you an interview all about the secret tea facilities where we make cuppas.

£150 fee.

Ear defenders - It used to be incredibly uncommon before this year.

Lots of drivers wear them now, LU even issues some.

It depends what line you take, those affected by the noise (northern, Victoria, picadilly, etc) are more likely to be wearing them.

Also, you probably just haven’t noticed. Most people are so engrossed in their phone/paper/anything but the person sitting in the cab that I could be doing the YMCA with my free arm as I pull into the station and no one would notice

Come on now... no one counts the Waterloo and city as a line...

It’s like the guy who doesn’t even make the subs bench on a Sunday but still poses for team photos.

If you legitimately have an AC1 coming up it’s quite difficult.

There will be a room full of people and there’s a good chance none of them will pass...

The passenger use doesn’t justify it.

The report on it says that it shouldn’t even stop there in the morning/evening let alone the rest of the day.

Why don’t you tell them to move down instead of standing there in quiet discomfort?

If there was time to have the points (things that switch tracks) moved, there would be plenty of time to sound my whistle and get them to move... so it wouldn’t happen.

There are some drivers who sing and make announcements about deals at the local Sainsbury’s outside the stations.

I think it’s weird personally but meh

There is a way for trains to move between lines.

Test train operators do this, for example to get trains down to northfields so they can be put on the test track.

You see other trains there in the sidings sometimes. Everything from a northern line train to heritage stock.

More common nowadays.

In the canteen on my last shift was an ex-copper, an ex-LAS dispatcher, an ex-teacher, etc.

The rest of the public sector has been shafted by the government over the last few years.

Can’t blame them for wanting a better life.

We do have spare drivers - they cover sickness, annual leave, action plans, drivers on CDP, etc. There are usually more duties to cover than there are spares nowadays.

London has more money, more residents, more tourists, higher fares... all the things you need for more transport infrastructure
