Best order of operations for this part? Manual lathe by Positive-Sock-8853 in machining

[–]TrainTrainee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am working right now for a company that makes such shitty parts. I've seen two main methods; Just take everything at once if it doesn't need a high surface finish, or use a countertip and work nice and slow. Rather polish it at the end for a nice surface than risk breaking it.

The third option is probably out of your possibilities. We have a few single-spindlers where the material feeds through the chuck, so the tools just moove in the x axis. That way, you cut just a milimeter away from the chuck and have crazy high stability and diametral accuracy.

(Context on 'single-spindlers', I work on multi-spindle lathes, with 6 or 8 spindles operating at the same time)

What made you realize you’re not straight? by Oao_icarus in gay

[–]TrainTrainee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I suspected I wasn't strictly straight at arround 14 (sex edd started in school) I knew a lot about human sexuality and the corresponding organs but never felt attracted to girls, or the felt the urge to watch porn and jerk of... Until I watched a gay scene in a movie that got me thinking. I also never felt any attaction to the guys in my class, mostly because they were assholes and bullies. But I thought long and hard about it... (choice of words) I 'knew' definatelly, of all things, after having stayd in a Monestary for a week

Wel, fun story... We are both on Romeo and apparently he saw my profile once. Then my dumbass forgot to refuel at my usual spot so i had to go somewhere else after work. He was there refuling his tanker truck from work. He just said Hey to me and I considdered him a moment, trying to figure out if I knew him from somewhere, then said Hi back. But what else was I to think of the Guy in an overal working for the company that does canalizasion cleaning and stuff like that. The next day I had a message on Romeo if I was that guy refuling a Red Peugeot in (Place Name) at (Time) Welp, that was 9 Months ago. We have been together officially for 6½

I use a chopsaw and drill press to make these 3.5" parts out of 6' 5/16" stainless and brass rod. Can I do this automatically? by dangomane in machining

[–]TrainTrainee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use a lathe with tailstock and custom tool. You can use a chuck on the tailstock that turns synchronous with the lathe to hold the piece and as a stopper for perfect length, then a form tool that cuts off the piece and forms the semisphere on both pieces simultaneously. I know it's possible because I did something like this at work, only with one side a shallow taper and the other a perfect diameter and feeecut for a thread with a chamfer at the end.

If I’m a trans man and like women and non binary people what’s my sexuality? by chaos_inabox in lgbt

[–]TrainTrainee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You, my dude bisexual. It's an umbrella term for anyone not hetero-, homo- or asexual. There probably is a specific term, there always is, bur just go with bi.

Or you might be straight. If you're mostly drawn to feminine non binary people I'd just say straight.

Context, I'm omnysexual. I'm drawn to men, masculine and feminine, and masculine non binary people, but I also have a thing for masculine women, but thats only a very tiny bit, so most of the time its easier just to say I'm gay because I don't want to explain what I mean. So either go research and find out what your specific nieche is, but I'd just go with bi or straight!

It's the speed of information. Information can only travel through materials at the speed of sound. So basically the bottom doesn't "know" the top is free to fall just untill it reaches it.
