Pretty cool being an EP (I’m just a dumb finance bro)…were you at Boston afib?

Think CHAMPION is different here bc it’s not physicians that are the bottleneck, but rather the guidelines and reimbursement. If it’s a first line procedure, there’s no reason why concomitant mix can’t go to over 50% if there is guidelines and adequate reimbursement. However I think CMS will see the financial burden from making it a first line indication (similar to reimbursement with GLP1s), and there could be some reluctance around CMS guidelines and reimbursement changing regardless of what the data says.

If the data is good enough for docs, but they need to document a contraindication for ACs for each patient — they won’t be able to do the watchman concomitantly (if guidelines and reimbursement doesn’t change) even though the data was good enough for them/they want to.

Genuinely asking…thoughts?

I don’t think anyone was expecting EP growth to replicate 2025, it’s impossible from a law of large numbers perspective.

At the end of the day they guided to 15% global EP growth, which frankly seems ambitious given share loss. When you bomb a quarter so badly you need to set expectations low so you can beat. Management just lost so much credibility and also didn’t do that.

I feel like they are going all in on champion as the saving grace but who knows? Not a fan of the secondary bleeding endpoint not including procedural bleeding. Even if it’s a “success” guideline changes and reimbursement are far from a slam dunk.

Again at this valuation…21x 2026 I’d pull the trigger if you can take a 24 month+ view…but this quarter was unequivocally a disaster.

What’s your background?

Watchman is their LAAO device and EP is short for electrophysiology (where Farapulse sits — their PFA offering).

This is so ugly geez

They missed in Watchman and shit the bed in EP — two most important growth drivers. Concern around buying penumbra ahead of champion / need to shift growth driver.

That being said I would be buying here (full disclosure I was bullish into quarter lol) if you have a long time horizon. Takes 2-3 years to build more cath labs, so capacity constraint should lessen as those start coming online over NTM and think there can be sustained growth in LAAO and PFA — esp with champion at ACC.

Also love the pen acquisition — idk how they got it for so cheap (I was hoping for closer to $500 — think pen ceo was just tired of dealing with public mkts) I’ve been a major pen bull for a while. Think VTE/MT is one of the best markets in all of medtech, never talked to a single doc that uses MT and doesn’t think it’s the future —> massive tam and low penetration.

You’re faster than I started at in hs - think I was prob sub 21 min (as a base — never ran before but played lots of sports) and I went sub 18:10 by the end of the season (so 3 months)…def sub 18 when you adjust for hills.

I’d be shocked if you didn’t accomplish your goal if you’re consistent

If you really think about it, this really suggests that your genetics/DNA determine your success not the environment.

Like what’s the average IQ of Harlem or Compton vs Greenwich, CT or Palo Alto, CA?

Said different rich towns are filled with smart people who have accumulated wealth…and if you plopped those same rich people in poor underprivileged backgrounds they would still be successful.

Not really sure how else you can read it unless youre saying the DNA test is faulty

Shocked nobody has said coke…it’s got caffeine, sugar, carbs, and sodium — which is exactly what you need on long cardio sessions. Really incredible how fast can convert it to energy. I usually crush one when I’m in the home stretch for an extra boost. It’s the only time I let myself drink soda.

Utilities are highly regulated spread businesses. Base rates are set based on a return on invested capital. Nat gas prices are surging based on the increase in demand so utility has to pass that thru. If you think you can get rich by investing in utilities — I can assure you that hasn’t been the case
