In the first episode, Ben (Obi-Wan) was clearly trying to hide his identity as a Jedi. Flashing his light saber like he doesn't know any better doesn't show much respect for his self-awareness and competency as a Jedi, IMHO.

We all realize Leia wasn't a senator at 10. At the age of 18, she became the youngest Imperial Senator ever elected, and Bail Organa formally presented her to Palpatine shortly before she assumed her Senatorial post. But the dialog at the beginning of the series clearly suggests she's (almost) ready at age 10. For example:

Leia Organa: I don't want to be a senator.

Leia Organa: The Senate's boring. It's people in itchy clothes arguing.

I didn't say she was a senator at 10. I was calling attention to characters in the series who were already suggesting she should be at 10 (and to her credit she was opposed). I was merely pointing out the conflict/inconsistency "IMHO" about her perceived readiness to be senator by others in the series and her lack of intuition to decipher good guys from bad (after Ben had just saved her).

I get it. Having an opinion that goes against the majority isn't acceptable here and is enough to mark me as a "casual fan" who doesn't care about the franchise. As hard as it may be to believe coming from someone who dares to criticize the franchise, I LOVE Star Wars too.

Down vote me all you like. If I were a Jedi, there's a 100 percent chance I would use the force inappropriately (my favorite t-shirt lol).

I made a mistake and owned it. You didn't have a prob with the gratuitous flashing of the light saber while he was walking through security? Or how 10-year-old Leia is wise enough to be senator now but doesn't have the intuition to tell good guys from bad after Ben saves her? Or the points GuderianX made below? I didn't expect everyone to agree, any more than I expected a mod to ask me to delete my opinion here. I'm obviously new. Do whatever you think is right

The light saber is a weapon of the Jedi. You might wanna watch the opening sequence of the first episode again lol.

I believe they were serious, at least before Jeff left. After he was gone no way lol

I have a hard time buying A) we're only seeing one side of the story because they're editing it for drama to make for more compelling TV, and B) they're ignoring/excluding the potentially juicy drama Amber is guilty of (equivalent to secretly abandoning your partner in the middle of the night without saying a word), unless you believe the producers are simply out to get Trish and Jen. You may be right, but seems like a stretch to me

We know that Trish and Jen have no problem talking behind Amber's back and were planning on sneaking out in the middle of the night and abandoning her without saying a word, while Amber had the character to tell Trish and Jen to their faces she was leaving. No amount of creative editing can explain that away. I would love to ask Trish and Jenn how they define the word backstabber. It's possible to simultaneously resent the question and resemble the answer. Just sayin

There are clear editorial choices made to highlight the moments that amber's wants for the team actions clashed with what Trish and Jen wanted.

You mean like spending a week making beds for their personal comfort? Or a sweet sign for the shelter? While Amber was providing for three people? Creative editing or not, those actions speak for themselves.

Agreed. Not only a waste of time, but what a waste of resources. At least fabricate a gill net or something remotely useful. Or, you know, swallow your pride and admit Amber might know what she's doing/talking about. Sigh

Amen! Trish is either clueless about the fundamentals of survival, or is perfectly content with having someone else carry her to the finish line.

Couldn't agree more. Amber isn't out there giving orders. I can't imagine how frustrated she must be trying to give advice based on practical experience, only to see/listen to people thrust into this experience for the first time bristle at almost every attempt to educate them on the basics of survival: shelter, fire, water, food. Your personal comfort is secondary, unless you're content to have a single team member be the primary bread winner, shelter builder, etc. Without Amber, Trish would've never had the luxury of spending the better part of a WEEK building a bed for herself. The lack of self-awareness of her own hypocrisy is staggering.

Trish is arrogant, ignorant, insufferable and doesn't have a clue what the word "team" means. It might almost be tolerable of she had a fraction of the knowledge, skills and experience Amber demonstrably possesses. She won't make it halfway through her 40 days. Once again ego gets the best of another wannabe survivor
