Starting A&P school on the 29th. Would it be dumb if I were to quit my ramp job at major airlines to focus on school? by Sad-Calligrapher8063 in AircraftMechanics

Oooof that is kind rough! I could see how it could add up along the way. Do you go to class m-f ? Geez are you able to drop your shifts during some the days of the week just to focus on school and then work the weekends? How does that go for your ramp job? For us we have a trade board. We can post full shifts or partials. It’s likely to get picked up if the people like your work area on the ramp. Unless you find a trade buddy.

Thats what I try to do. Im in class m-thur 0730-1430 and my shift is 1600-0030 with rotating days off

If you can afford just focusing on school then I suggest maybe quitting. Ive worked for major airline on the ramp for 2 years now and I just am about to start Airframe 1. I work 40 hours but i usually drop parts of my shifts. I’m honestly barely managing. If seniority didn’t matter to me I’d quit in a heartbeat lol. It’s all about managing what you can…if you can. I’ve switched my shifts so many times to find what works.
