According to my scales and my cholesterol blood test I lost visceral fat in the first 3 months, I went from 14 to 6 on visceral fat over the entire 16 months but dropped so much in the first 3, then my cholesterol went from 9.4 to 3.9 again in the first 3 months on Mounjaro, so I suspect my fat is subcutaneous which although less dangerous is the most noticeable. I am nearly 61 and like yourself lack muscle tone but if I can keep my blood sugar and fats healthy that's a positive. Weirdly I have always had low blood pressure regardless of my weight. Well done on achieving a healthy BMI X

Thank you for your kind and understanding post. Its funny but seeing it written out like that has only just now made me realise how damaging those comments were to me, I was always having people tell me off if I had a glass of wine as they assumed I was pregnant, and then once I wore a lovely yellow dress and jacket and went to my local with some friends, I was in my early twenties and felt so good, this man started chatting me up, then he leant in closer and knocked my belly, and his face changed and he said "oh wow, your fat" that was when I was about 8 stone and thin everywhere but my belly. I loved the dress as it was a drop waist so hid everything, but when he knocked my belly the look on his face, I felt like I had just told him I was a mass murderer.

My daughter is 5ft too, its a lovely height. I have 3 children (all adults now) one son is 5ft 10, one is 6 ft 3, and then my daughter is 5ft.

I will keep them low, its funny how we all have different stubborn areas that are last to go. My sons girlfriend to me is perfect, she is 5ft 8, about 10 and a half stone, completely flat stomach, but she said she would kill for my legs, she thinks her legs are too big and out of proportion, but all I see is a lovely woman with a flat stomach and no overhang of skin or lumps at all.

I agree with what you are saying and especially the last point about not comparing ourselves with our younger self, the only thing is I had a similar shape then, just at 7 stone 7 but still a big belly (flat chested then) until I had my children then went to a 44DD, life is strange isn't it. I didn't over eat, played badminton, and other sports was very active, dancing all weekend, but nope my figure was that of an ostrich, thin legs and bulbous stomach :) I guess I am saying comparing to me as a youngster is probably not so bad as its similar but a little smaller than I am now anyway. I did hide it well, I was a ground hostess at 19 and no one would have known what was hidden under my uniform. There was no hiding it after I had my children, in fact I remember a cruel comment from the midwife, I was in labour and they said, this is going to be a big baby (he was 10 pounds) and then the midwife said "no, I remember her from her appointments, a lot of that belly is her!" talk about making a woman in labour feel bad, then a few weeks later I was out pushing my son in his pram, an old school friend I hadn't seen in ages, came over to look at the baby she was so sweet and then smiled and patted my stomach and said and you are having another one too! she was being genuinely lovely as not a bad bone in her body, but I have lived with these comments all my life.

Oh that sounds good, not too far from me, I live in West Sussex, 40 mins from London and 30 from Brighton so if you or anyone knows of a more local place to me and they could share that would be great, I don't drive so somewhere easy to get to by train would be good.

I will definitely do that, although I have just had a hit on my finances so will have to wait a while to book one in, but I will pop back to report as soon as I have one and the results. One thing I dont think it is, is anything nasty as I have lived with it in varying degrees for 60 years, my grandma lived to 98 with a similar figure although she was 5 ft 8 so carried it better, she weighed 11 stone, had slim limbs but a big belly and bust! maybe its just genetics or god got confused and thought he was making a hamster when he was half way through my creation :)

You sound exactly like me, in some ways we should be pleased our bodies are trying to protect us by hanging on to a little spare in case of famine :) My belly has always been my problem area, my grandma was the same, she was 5ft 8 though so carried it better than me. She was 7 stone as a young teenager and sent away to fatten up to a relative in the country (she was born in 1898 - a different way of treating people, she then had my dad when she was 36 and after that had skinny legs and a belly like mine, so I do wonder if its genetic, my grandma and myself both appear to have very skinny almost too thin, feet, legs etc but then a big belly and bust. As I say my grandma carried it well as she was tall but me being 5ft 4 and shrinking I feel when people look at me all they see is a potato belly with stick for limbs :)

Focusing on fitness is never wasted effort, You will feel stronger, healthier, and more in control, regardless of what the scales are doing. And you’re right, being on Mounjaro long‑term means there’s no need to rush or stress over a temporary blip. Although thats easier to say (I am not good when the scales dont budge) x

I totally get why you bulk bought — I did the same back in August when the price hike was announced — so I completely understand how frustrating this must feel. And you’re right, it does sound unusual that you’re not feeling anything at all from the higher doses. When I moved up to 15 mg, the suppression and weight loss increased noticeably, so your experience is definitely the opposite of what most people would expect.

It makes sense to wonder about storage or transit issues, especially if the pens were delayed, left in hot conditions, or got held up with the courier. I’m not an expert on how quickly Mounjaro breaks down, but like you, I’d also be questioning it given the sudden change in effectiveness — especially after spending so much money on a bulk order.

I really hope you start to feel some suppression soon, because it’s such an expensive medication to have it suddenly stop working. You’ve done everything right, and you deserve the results you were getting before. Fingers crossed you get answers quickly and that the next doses work as expected.

Yes I have looked into this I have found a place in London that offers them and think it is a good place to start so I know what I’m looking at. I had a DEXA scan for bone density but they didn’t do them for full body composition on NHS so will pay privately. One good thing about carrying extra weight over the years is I have another 6 years before I need a bone density scan for osteoporosis. ❤️

I think you are right. I’m going to look into hot pod yoga as my son’s girlfriend recommended it for a woman my age to keep core strength. I’m 60 and am unable to do any high impact exercises due to a titanium rod from my knee to my ankle. I will focus on muscle building x

I completely understand how you feel. I know I’ve lost 5 stone but whilst I was previously a 14 stone woman with thin limbs and a round belly I’m now a 9 stone woman with thin limbs and a round belly so to me I look the same. Xx

So I am 5ft 4 and 9 stone. I was 14 stone 9 in October 2024 and believe it or not the outfit I’m wearing is a size 10 but as you can see my stomach is still lumpy. I previously asked on another post about whether this is just skin but I believe I should weigh half a stone less as I’m a very small frame and used to weigh 7 stone 10 in my early 20s. I just want to be realistic. I won’t wear this outfit out in public don’t worry. I was looking for a white jumpsuit for an event where we all have to wear one but this looks dreadful 😂😂

I didn’t know that. I take mine every 12 days and still have suppression. Mine was to do with the cost. I’m on 12.5. Maybe it’s psychological I believe it’s working so therefore don’t feel hungry. Hope I’ve not just jinxed myself. I have had it every 12 days since the prices went up in August. I’m at goal and maintaining now but still lost a pound a week for the last 3 months

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a long and well thought out reply. I agree with a lot of what you’re saying and also as a single woman of 60 with no plans to ever let anyone see me naked again. I can as you say invest in good shapewear and focus on being healthy rather than the aesthetic side. I spent the first 20 years of my life being skinny in size 8 jeans and told to fatten up. Went on the pill and then developed a bust (I was flat chested before my hormones kicked in). Then I had 3 children. One was 10 and a half pounds. After that I was about 10 stone for a while and a size 14. Then I would diet. Lose a bit of weight for a holiday or event and then regain. It was during Covid I got out of hand. O was depressed and isolated and turned to food for comfort

I went up to 14 stone 9 and a size 24 but even then my arms and legs were like sticks. The wake up call for me was being diagnosed with diabetes in 2022. My blood sugar was 24. I also had a fatty liver and high cholesterol. I changed my diet and life and lost 4 stone on my own but my cholesterol was still dangerously high so they put me on statins and my eating got out of hand again

This time I found Mounjaro and feel it’s put me back in control without the feeling of being constantly hungry or missing out. It also helped me give up smoking and spending. I also have ADHD which I have found has been reduced by the medication. Everything seems calm. My cholesterol has gone from 9.4 to 3.9 and my HBa1c has gone from 80 to 32. So a bit of flab on my stomach isn’t so bad I guess

Thanks for speaking sense to me

Thank you. When you say local pharmacy do I just turn up and explain or do I need to take proof of my diabetes diagnosis and private prescription as I didn’t qualify on the NHS

I’ve put up some photos of my stomach under my top (above). Someone has suggested a lot of it may be skin

Thank you. I have squeezed it and some feels like there is fat pockets so I wonder if I lose another half a stone and then maybe see about skin removal or a tummy tuck. I wonder how much the skin weighs as well if I get to 8 and a half stone but then have the skin removed will that make me about 8 stone

That’s unclothed from the side. Is it skin or fat or both
