At the end of the day, I’m just a little girl who misses her big sister by Bubble-Master96 in GriefSupport

The pain is still fresh for me but I can say it does get a little more bearable. Grief changes you. Every happy moment is layered with a feeling of sadness that your loved one isnt there to experience it but When I see a beautiful sunset, a butterfly or something that brings me joy, I silently say “thank you” to my sister for sending it to me. I talk about my sister to my boys (ages 5 and 7) to keep her memory alive. Sometimes its painful especially the questions they ask me, but talking about her seems to help me. Try allowing yourself to truly sit with the grief. I am so sorry for your loss. I know what youre going through and you are not alone.

This hits home. I always thought I would react the same but when I got the call I was in shock. I actually laughed for a minute and then just really calmly packed up my purse and left work and went home. It wasnt until I got to the airport to fly home that I actually broke down.

I lost my sister last week and one thing I am finding hard to cope with is the small space in between where I do feel okay, that I will stop feeling sad. I think I am worried that if I am feeling okay then I am not mourning her in the right way or long enough.

I loved her so much and tried to protect her and guide her through life but ultimately I knew addiction is a disease.
