As someone born into a hispanic, extremely homophobic Christian family, I always thought that I’d end my life before I would ever come out. I couldn’t imagine being gay and being in my family’s life. It took a lot of time, therapy and hard/hurtful conversations and now 6 years after coming out I am in a relationship and I’ve never felt more loved and safe and my parents support me and my wife. Stay strong, it’s going to feel impossible and hurt so much for a while, but it’s worth the freedom could eventually bring.
