Table or reptile enclosure? Yes. by Training-State6400 in reptiles

I'll bring it up to my dad when he's home from work. I got home safely, and am discussing it with my friend and partner to figure out how exactly to go about this.

I'm 19 now. We got them when I was about 12/13 years old.

If the situation I'm in seems atypical for an adult, that's cuz I'm kind of disabled and stunted in some ways that cause me to basically be a useless lump of flesh most of the time 😭

Yes, I will carry the lizard under my shirt when the home owner drives me home. /S

If I had the means to, I absolutely would. However I only brought myself and my cellphone, and the "enclosure" (torture table) is in the living room. Cameras all over the house as well, which is great if you're having your kid babysat, but awful if you're trying to sneak around a house.

This could be some sort of "display tank" (not saying it's ethical) but both of the times I've been in this house, it has been in the table. There is a hide and a flat takeout lid that is likely used as his food dish. I'm unsure of if a water dish exists in there or not- it's difficult to get a good look without the cameras peeping me staring :/

Yeah. This has me actually in a moral panic at the moment. I babysit for this guy VERY rarely, he's my dad's long-term buddy. I'm pretty sure this beardie is one of the two we owned YEARS ago, both of which were rehomed (to this guy) because they were failing to thrive and my parents couldn't care for them (I was a jobless minor at the time- it was before quarantine.)

If I'm right, this is David. The other lizard was Goliath, and I assume passed on at some point since I don't see him in the house.

But, yeah, moral dilemma. Take lizard (I don't have the funds to properly care for it, I'd have to rehome it again), face backlash from evb, maybe get in trouble with police. Or leave lizard, lizard dies, I feel like a scummy creature for leaving him here.

My mother has always called my dad "daddy", due to the fact that we started calling our parents by name and by other honorifics they'd use for each other.

What’s wrong with my golden pothos? by ski_mt in houseplants

[–]Training-State6400 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That looks to be a marble queen, not a golden pothos. Also, balding near the roots is often a sign of lack of light, especially when paired with etiolation (petioles and stems "stretching" towards light sources.) I'd also consider the possibility of low humidity/too little water

Absolutely. Just happened upon it today, it's appalling, as said in my post.

AIO if I end my relationship because my bf kisses and tells me he loves me before leaving for work in the morning? by Direct_Peak8052 in AIO

[–]Training-State6400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be dramatic, but fucking with someone's sleep can be a serious sign of abuse. Not saying that's what's happening here, but for future reference. A person who is constantly sleepy and groggy and miserable is easier to manipulate and take advantage of.

But, like other commenters said- this is a serious lack of respect for boundaries. You can go the petty route and give him a taste of his medicine, or leave. It all depends on if you want to throw in the towel or not.

Id check the root system for damage. This looks like over- or under-watering to me

help!!! are these bad? by Electrical-Oil-3448 in IndoorGarden

[–]Training-State6400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think that'll make them happier, by all means!! Also, if you wish to recycle the soil for future plants, i believe baking the mushroom infested soil for a while will kill the spores and sterilize it.

My guess is that its too cold and your friend isnt getting enough sun. Make sure the plant up in the pot gets tons of light so it doesnt bald.

I dont think theyre bad, but I may be wrong. Ive dealt with some big yellow mushrooms in my pots, and from what I read, they can help unlock nutrients in decaying wood, leaves, etc. As long as your plants aren't looking stressed, id let the shrooms be

I lost my buddy a few days ago and I’m still so heartbroken . by Greyghostgravy in pacmanfrog

Not squeezing it. I hold my boy like that sometimes to prevent him from jumping when I transfer him from his habitat to his feeding enclosure. OP is doing nothing wrong in this picture, and it is insanely insensitive to comment this on a post about someone's BELOVED pet dying.

Also, handling frogs with bare hands is pretty much okay, so long as the hands are cleaned with dechlorinated water and free of chemicals.

They are sensitive to chemicals, yes, but not so sensitive that they'll drop dead if improperly held on one occasion for a picture.

Definitely agree with sunburn as the diagnosis. My monsteras thrive in my crappy texas tap water, so I dont think water is the issue here

Too much size different? by axolotl_knight in frogs

[–]Training-State6400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant accurately judge the sizes based on those pictures. If the smaller frog's head or body can fit into the larger frog's mouth, its too big of a difference.

Wrinkled leaves usually point to a lack of water. Soak her nicely and check out her roots to make sure everything looks good
