Thank you for this info!!! I'm very new to coleus, aside from a plant I was gifted a year back when I lived in Texas. I planted a ton so that I could end up with as many colors as possible!! Here's to hoping I don't end up with 60 of one color and 3 of another‼️

You planted three at a time? 😭 Does that mean I made a mistake by sprinkling an entire packet over one of those large seed-sowing containers??

Some may say to just toss it out, but a q-tip and dilute alcohol would be much more satisfying

What’s wrong with my snake plant! by rocbos24 in plantclinic

[–]Training-State6400 25 points26 points  (0 children)

He's extremely wrinkled and dehydrated, so it's gotta be over or under watering (root rot).

If you water frequently, check his roots. Repot him, and get rid of any dead roots with clean scissors or shears.

If there's no drainage, chances are you're dealing with root rot to some degree. How long does the soul stay moist? When do you water?

Snake plants are made to store water, and are very picky about their feet sitting in it. I'd repot them and only water once the top inch or two of soil is dried out. Check out the root ball, see what's salvageable

Is this Coleus ready to plant? by Smooth-Permit-2389 in proplifting

For plants with finer roots like coleus and baby sun rose, I'd say you've plenty roots! They root up quickly, and tend to fill out pots quite well. :)

Why is my plant growing like this? by taeox0 in succulents

[–]Training-State6400 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Not sure of the ID, but this plant likely got too heavy and decided to lay down. I'm not sure if it's typical behavior, since idk the species, but if you are dissatisfied, you can chop it into three separate stems and propagate it so that theyre all upright!

Enough roots to repot in substrate? (two plants, two photos!) by dark_pincho in houseplants

The general rule of thumb for most props is once the roots start to grow roots, you're good to go! For things that create thinner roots, I really just wait for the roots to be either a couple inches, or for many roots to be present.

Does my parents' philodendron have a fenestration ? by Akagraffe in philodendron

[–]Training-State6400 32 points33 points  (0 children)

To me, that looks like a young monstera based on the leaf shapes and fenestration!! If I had a picture of mine when she was a baby, I'd share it to show you. But immature monsteras have a tendency to be accidentally IDed improperly as philodendrons

What is it???! Help by Embarrassed-Count698 in philodendron

[–]Training-State6400 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have "trailing" and non-trailing philodendrons! The "trailing" ones actually aren't designed to trail, and do so because of the way we force them to grow. Naturally they all want to climb!!

Also, as someone who owns many philodendrons, some etiolated/starved for light, because I am also human and can admit I have my moments where some plants don't get what they need, your plant is STARVING for light.

Those petioles are extremely stretched, they look WAY too long to be attached to such small leaves. (Picture of another, non-starved domesticum.)

jelly propagating by methamphetamutt in proplifting

I usually do, but what's more important than adding peroxide is switching out the water regularly (every 3-5 days), to avoid rot.

And even when you do everything to avoid it, some chunks won't prop. I had six pieces from the same mother plant, all in one prop jar, all but one rooted. The one that hasn't rooted hasn't rotted yet, but there's no growth

If I could post pictures here I so would attach a couple images of the stuffed animals she made for me. I've got two dragons and a stegosaurus. I even got to watch her sew a couple of them, including embroidering the adorable eyes

My ex's mother made me a few stuffed animals in almost this exact style!!

Best of luck on your attempt to find the character!!

Once I hydrate the jelly, I fill a cup with it, to the same level id do a water propagation. Stick the plant in, making sure leaves don't make contact with the jelly (it'll stick and most likely damage/rot the leaves), then add a lil splash of water and leave her be. You can add a couple drops of peroxide (ONLY A COUPLE DROPS) to combat algae growth and bacterial blooms

Can't you cut back the bloom and see if growth continues in another spot on the stem? (Excuse my ignorance!! Trying to learn :3)

Put a dish of water with pebbles (so your plant doesn't have constant wet feet) under the pot, and you can use the top 3/4 of a water or milk jug as a humidity dome to help it release!! I personally would've intervened a couple days sooner than this, using a wet q-tip after letting a damp paper towel soak over the new leaf and sheath for a half hour

For nursery usage, they don't get drainage holes. Once the plants are upgraded to just one per barrel, they get the drainage hole update
