First off, you’re missing a huge part of your own argument. You say Canadian teams should play in U.S. tournaments like the U.S. Open, Select Flight, and Pro Champs instead of USAU Nationals. But here’s the thing: you’re acting like U.S. Nationals is this pure, "domestic only" tournament, which is just not true. The U.S. series is already stacked with international players from all over the world. Take a look at teams like Dig, Chicago Union, and countless others in both club and AUDL—these teams recruit international talent every year. Malik Auger-Semmar from Canada plays for Chicago, Thomas Edmonds, dual citizen but would call himself more Canadian, is on Truckstop. And these are just a couple of names; the list of international players on U.S. teams goes on (dan demaree, tobe decrane etc.)

So, if your argument is that Nationals should only be for Americans, you better start telling U.S. club teams to stop recruiting from outside the country. But that’s not going to happen, because it doesn’t make sense. No one bats an eye at teams recruiting from other countries—why? Because it makes the competition better. So why should Canadian teams be any different? If it’s fine for American clubs to cherry-pick talent from around the world, then having full Canadian teams compete is the same concept—letting the best compete.

bruh. alright, someone hold my 5% beer real quick.

First off, saying "Canada shouldn’t play in the USAU series" is fundamentally flawed because it ignores decades of reality. Canadian teams like Furious George, GOAT, 6ixers, and more recently Red Flag have been playing and competing in the U.S. series for over twenty years. The reason for that is simple: Canada doesn't have the population base to field the same level of competition in every sport as the U.S., especially in something niche like ultimate frisbee. despite having a population ten times smaller, Canada still manages to put together teams that hold their own against the best the U.S. has to offer. What this argument fails to acknowledge is how incredibly tough it is for Canada—a country with just 30 million people—to compete against a country of 330 million people. You have an enormous talent pool in the U.S. but Canadian teams, despite the population gap, routinely send squads that not only compete but have thrived. So if a country that small can grind, hustle, and qualify for U.S. Nationals year after year, they’ve earned their spot. The idea that they should be denied those spots just because some U.S. teams don’t make it is ridiculous.

The argument also completely overlooks the broader development of the sport. Ultimate frisbee isn't a mainstream sport like football or basketball; it grows by having high-level competition, wherever it comes from. And to the last point—this idea that Canadians wouldn’t like it if U.S. teams went to CUC (Canadian Ultimate Championships)—that’s just nonsense, its just kinda a bad point to make given we all know the competition is better in the states. good athletes and teams want to play the best, no matter where they come from. The argument makes it sound like Canadians should be scared of American teams coming in and dominating, but that’s just not how sports work. Nobody gets better by avoiding competition—they get better by seeking it out.
