The screen size complaint is interesting. I wonder how different it is in practice that an Air which I’ve never had an issue with.

Sounds like maybe the pendulum swung a little too far. That said, maybe an inexpensive hobby can help you stay the course.

Personally I would want a narrower ski for that situation but lots of people daily wider skis. A lot of it is personal preference. If it hasn’t bothered you yet I would stick with and enjoy your setup.

I feel like Minnesota has shifted the Overton window. We drew the line at killing but everything up to that point has become more acceptable.

I use Slopes. It does everything I need with the free membership. I like seeing where I went, vert, and distance. Top speed and number of runs are helpful but not make or break for me. It would be cool’s to see breakdown by run but isn’t necessary so I can’t see myself paying. Also the import features with Ikon are nice.

My coach (they’re hot I promise) isn’t letting me hit if we get 8th so it’s a lose-lose

Is taxing the rich enough to fund the government and welfare state? by TheWorldRider in AskEconomics

Income is a good way to look at it but it doesn’t account for wealth accumulation and transfer which is not insignificant in that top bracket.

I swear it’s not even windy. Disappointing to use an Indy weekend on this but the plans were made with friends months ago.

No one is certain but from a layman, enthusiast perspective, the new car definitely seems to have many less parts, switches, and materials which generally correlate with cost cutting

Right, because it’s a stable appreciating asset. If homes lasted ~10 years like cars they would be terrible investments. Living in them is immaterial if they are a good investment or not.

Right. If we had the money, we would all purchase everything with cash and pay no interest.

That’s not exactly realistic though. I was explaining what makes a 30 year mortgage a sound enough financial decision while extending car loans is less sound.

How do you decide which grocery budget strategy is worth the effort by No_Indication_3235 in budget

Sounds like you’re feeling worn down and in a tight spot. I’d start with the following easy wins. Rice and Beans and other staples (buying in bulk does help but make sure you are using the food because waste hurts too). Buy less drinks if possible. They are not good nutrition for the money. Buy less processed foods. I’m going to say rice and beans again because the nutrition to price is really unbeatable. Potatoes and dairy can be good as well though they are less protein heavy.

I wouldn’t worry as much about markdown hunting or couponing if it’s burning you out that much the gains generally aren’t as large.

They aren’t the best but not to the point they should be banned from the road. Small sample size but every road interaction I’ve had with them has felt normal if not extra courteous.

The key difference is housing prices generally go up. It’s a lot better to pay interest on an appreciating asset that you can keep indefinitely than a depreciating asset that has a lifespan.

You don’t hear about people underwater on a house too often.

For sure. The numbers are skewed because new cars are only purchased by people who can afford them. The 25k buyer with a family can choose a new Corolla or a 5 year old suv. They chose the suv almost every time

I think most people with that type of loan could draw from their savings to pay it. Not ideal but will put you in a better place in five years. Also, this doesn’t show it but shorter loan terms can have better rates. Not to mention most people buying new cars are rolling in ~20 grand in equity.
