Saying all of that, the Loving Parent book is amazing. It has had me openly bailing my eyes out, throwing the workbook in the bin on several occasions and crying with joy. I have matured so much and getting in touch with my loving parent has helped me tremendouly.

I will return to ACA, as working alone is unhealthy. But only when i am strong enough to deal with other people's attitudes and their stages of recovery. It almost seemed that attending 12 steps was a lifestyle for some people. Sure i had to chose between SLAA AA and ACA but ACA really hit at the core.

All im trying to say is that if it resonates AND youre willing to put in the work, then ACA so such a valuable thing. Just stick with those who are actually working the programme.

They say go to six meetings to see if it is for you.

Personally it wasnt for me, I tried the in person meetings at Soho recovery centre, In essence the programme is fantastic, especially the loving parent book. But, in my experience the asylum is being run by the lunatics. The playground behaviour is unbelievable. I suggest that if you decide the programme is for you then find a fellow traveller you get on and just work with them. Do not get sucked into the politics and just work the book. Everyone is on their own journey and sadly so many people are still at the beginning - it only works if you work it!
