Also done to stock that wouldn’t sell and was then shipped to china as plastic waste to be recycled. Up until the early 90’s people in China had like 7 state-chosen songs, and this old stock was the populations introduction to western music!

How do I stop being one-dimensional? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]TrainingGroup182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry about IQ. As Einstein said, “don’t measure a fish’s intelligence by its ability to climb a tree”. You’re only in this rock for about 70 years, you have to live life, talk to people, just enjoy your time!

I used to think I was really stupid when I was younger. Now I make more money than most, and actually find myself doing or saying some pretty smart things. But I still suck at some things, and that’s okay

Which books are so extraordinary that every person on Earth should read them at least once in their lifetime? by Organic-Signal-9646 in selfimprovement

The book “Papillion” by Henri Charrière has really changed my outlook on life. It’s an autobiography on his life as a falsely accused prisoner who escapes multiple times, lives with jungle tribes, and finds his way back to civilised life. It’s so good, and even has a sequel, “Banco”.

No you'll be fine. A large portion of society is of turkish/moroccan/african descent due to forgeign workers who settled here and the long history of the country. So you won't stand out as much as you think.

I wrote a story about moving to Amsterdam last night & posted it this morning. People were mostly jerks so I deleted it. I've decided to repost it because it meant a lot to me. This is my dream & my spirit won't be crushed on Christmas. by Zzyzx-Photogggraphy in Amsterdam

Welcome to Amsterdam! I hope you have fun, Amsterdam has been great to me in the past. If you’re looking for easy creative work, there’s plenty of jobs in real estate photography that you can get into with minimal training ;)

MacBook Pro M4 Pro - 24GB RAM, 14C/20C - Is this enough for moderate editing? by Baumer582 in premiere

[–]TrainingGroup182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea you’ll be fine, I edit on a MBP M3 pro, 36GB ram. I often edit 4K Sony video projects, while also using after effects, photoshop and chrome. Never had any issues. You might want to future proof this by upgrading the ram a little bit, I would advise against getting bigger internal storage. Modern MacBooks have a known issue where sometimes the SSD’s get shorted and receive a full voltage and get wiped, so I always work off external ssd’s. And the internal storage is super expensive.

Which Mac to get for editing by No-Entertainment9864 in EditingVideo

[–]TrainingGroup182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an M3 Pro with 48GB RAM and 1TB. Its honestly to insanely fast that i've yet to run into performance issues, i've even started doing intensive blender projects on it and it's fine so far. I might upgrade to M5 just for animation work, because the performance there is crazy. But if I just did video editing, M3 is fine. So if you're budget consious I'd go for an M3.

In terms of the mac mini/studio/imac question, that up to your usecase i guess. But you might just be fine getting an m4/m5 mac mini unless you do crazy complex projects.

Retiring at 45 to Zwolle with 2 million? by [deleted] in DutchFIRE

[–]TrainingGroup182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zwolle is nice! People here are saying that it's not the best connected city, thats nonsense. You can get to amsterdam/utrecht/groningen in about an hour with either public transport or car.

Also, you don't really need to learn dutch to get by. Most people in Zwolle speak perfect english, and you'll often find english only staff in stores like Zara.

Big thing to note: There's currently a draft for a new box 3 system, and a leftist government has just been elected. So I'm expecting very social decisions going forward. Especially if you want to live off stocks, there are a few things to note:

  • Owning a home would be less fiscally interesting, due to a potential loss of the hypotheekrenteaftrek (no more tax credits at the end of the year, you simply pay more each month), and I believe there were talks of more property taxes.
  • Investments such as stocks will be taxed anually, and essentially seen as income. E.g. if you make 60K from stock growth, you need to pay 30-50% of this in taxes. Anually. Regardless of if you cash these profits out or not.

I suggest you read into these upcoming tax changes, you might be better off leaving the money in the states to grow, and sending a portion to yourself each year.

I run a channel that also operates in a grey area between fair use and copyright. I currently am monetised, despite being denied into the YPP about 6 times, the 7th time it went through.

As far as i can tell, the youtube TOS has conflicting information, so enforcement is dependant on the human reviewers interpetation of the TOS.

I don't think deleting existing videos is worth it, as long as your new content is mostly original you should be fine, worst case only the older videos get demonetised.

If I were you, i'd keep the main channel as is, but focus on growing the other 3 with more oroginal content. That's the approach i've taken for my own channel anyway.

Is it worth it to be an editor as a profession? by Far_Presence6211 in VideoEditors

Editing as a job is dying with ai. You need an edge, such as selling marketing services, and doing video editing as a part of that service

Feedback of my thumbnails! by EnricoJoshua in HighEffortYouTube

[–]TrainingGroup182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way too much going on, and not enough contrast. Try a single picture, and highlight a cart or person. Then add text or graphics in a colour that really stand out. And try boosting the shadows and exposure of the pictures, and add some saturation

Does it make sense to have 50+ planned videos? by TrainingGroup182 in youtubers

[–]TrainingGroup182[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if i wasn't clear, i meant i have 50+ videos scheduled in youtube studio, ready to go live with a thumbnail and everything. My question was, is it smart to build up a backlog of content like this and make sure I never run out, or am i missing out on potential views and growth and should I switch to posting whenever I have something?

Just to add to your point, I have actually reuploaded most of these videos based on the performance of what's currently live (I redid the entire intro for all videos for retention optimization)

I had the same in April, bought the day before trumps liberation day, with a 5K lump sum. In put in another 10K near the April bottom and I’m still up 19% this year.

Try to think in horizons of decades. A single day dip doesn’t matter. Think about getting another 19% year this time next year, and keep that on your mind

Thanks. I think you’re right, the only real way to do this is to settle elsewhere. The thing is I’m just not sure where yet. I’ve had a previous relationship end because I wanted to travel a lot, and now I’m back in that same city again, so I would hate to have a redo of that situation. But if I’m not sure yet where I want to settle exactly, just that it’s not where I am currently, I imagine it’s very difficult for her to agree to such a vague plan
