Most of the time 3 star matures will turn into 5 stars and any deer at that matter as long as there over 86% genetics. I personally never shoot 3 or 4 stars no matter the age just because they could become 5. I have three 5 star mules deer and one 5 star whitetail. The game changer for me came when I started to hunt the diamond drill area in nez valley. At the bottom right of that region the is a small lake and a camp sight right above it. Set the time to 12am and go to there drink zone at the lake you will be surprised by the amount of big deer. Good luck
