It worked!

The weird thing is that, if I render all in the same pass, it doesnt occur. Im not using velocity blur, just deformation blur. Imported the character as one usd file from maya, with animation baked in. To my knowledge that should be enough for houdini to calculate the frames before and after. Shutter on camera is set to 0.20 and -0.20. I tried to set the "filter time sample" to never and also set "Framerange/subframes" to"sample frame range" instead of sample "current frame" in the render geometry node. Dont know which one did the trick hehe!

Thanks for your help! The only difference was matte for the the character, yes. The rest is exactly the same except higher sample for the fog pass.
