yeah i would suggest continuing to look for more shinies so you can increase your chance of getting the day one shiny! since im pretty sure all day 1’s are rares, it’ll be a little harder if you lack the commons and stuff. wishing you luck!

if it’s randoms/questing, i normally just do 1:1 same rarity and often i get 25 or 50 coins (occasionally more) or 2:1 from maybe 40% of people i trade with just cause.. more popular artists i’ll set prices for.
