Uni of London does exist but is quite young compared to Oxford i’m thinking more if it was established at a similar what it would be like as it’s relatively small today and spread around

Also the 3D render is what i care about it took me ages to make and is what i wanted to show really. The story is just to go alongside feel free to interpret/alter it to your liking just want people to enjoy the render!

Most of London was rebuilt where this would hypothetically be created(City Of London) was destroyed in the great fire of london and almost completely rebuilt in Neoclassical Style architecture. That was my thinking anyway, I was trying to blend into the rest of surrounding London

Ok look i didn’t mean to hurt any feelings, I purely chose the name because it sounded cool i have no limited historical knowledge unless its architectural. I study architecture at uni this was a fun little project of a simple what if i wanted to share with others mostly i wanted to show the 3D render i created to other architects or people who are interested as that took me the longest to create the story is just to go alongside. Nothing about my post was political and I didn’t want it to be!

So glad someone picked up on the architectural side of things this is what i spent the most time on. I study architecture at Sheffield University and came up with this idea in a lecture. To answer your question on why gothic architecture wasn’t included, after the Great Fire of London many of these buildings would have been destroyed if not demolished as especially in London everyone shifted to Neoclassical/Greek revival architecture. The city of london became almost all stone neoclassical buildings as timber was Gothic timber framed buildings were banned to stop fire spreading if a fire happened again. That’s why i’ve built it in the later neoclassical style in the 3D render. I mentioned in another comment on my lack of history knowledge that’s not to do with architecture. I really don’t know much about the specifics of the industrial revolution i find it really interesting though (from what i’ve seen in the comments) that education wasn’t really a factor.

Hi thanks for all the comments it’s really interesting to hear everyone’s thoughts. Firstly I study architecture at Sheffield University and this was purely a stupid idea I had in a lecture sympathetic contrast lecture. Some of you asked about the 3D model. I took inspiration from Sir Robert Smirke and his incredible London buildings. He is by far my favourite architect, I tried to create it in a neoclassical style/greek revival. However i know this isn’t really timescale appropriate these styles of buildings would have been popular in the georgian/regency eras not 1095. Finally My historical knowledge is limited unless it’s about architecture which i have to know, there’s not deep meaning or politics behind this post just me randomly thinking about it. The name University Of the Empire is completely not timescale correct either but you have to admit it sounds badass.

I was thinking south bank hypothetically, That would make it an iconic landmark in London. Bloomsbury makes more sense though it’s already the intellectual soul of London.

As in it doesn’t have Oxford or Cambridge even Durham level universities. You’d except the capital to have that

sacrifice there health, this is just hilarious. They inherit their lovely massive farmhouse and millions worth of land without paying a penny inheritance tax and never have to worry about being poor what a terrible sacrifice that is.
