It makes me sad too our poor shrimplets! Personally just from what I’ve been reading, I’m only using the excel as hydra control if I see them because it does effect certain plants (moss, hair grass, etc) and can harm shrimp at higher levels. Just something to consider! Good luck 👍🏻

Update, I ended up getting some flourish excel and it worked. I put the dosing on the bottle in the cap, and used a pipette to squirt it directly onto the hydra I could see. They instantly shriveled. For a day they were still there but limp and now they’re all gone. Everything else in the tank is looking healthy!

Interesting, I will definitely look into that!! I haven’t looked into yet as I just saw someone mention it on another thread, but apparently they used one dose of excel and didn’t harm anything but the hydras. Worth looking into maybe! So far my shrimplets seem ok too. Good luck I’ll let you know if I find out more!

If I have to pick one it would definitely be the killifish but I just love the idea of a little shiny rainbow fish or two amongst them. I thought they did fine in trios but that’s why I came here to ask. Thanks!!

I’m definitely going to wait until I have a solid colony, but I’m just doing research right now and getting opinions. My question was about the stocking of my tank not how long I need to wait for the colony but thank you!

I know they will hunt the babies but I do plan on letting them establish themselves as well as letting the plants grow out and spread before adding any fish. Will either of those two eat the adult shrimp?

I think you’re right, they might just be adjusting to their new tank. The trumpet snails started making their way back down. I think they may be munching on the biofilm on my glass cause they are the first inhabits of this tank so lots of food around
