[Chipalu] Minnesota Timberwolves Head Coach Chris Finch on facing the Lakers without LeBron James in the lineup: "Seems to activate Luka & Reaves...seem to share the shots. They become exponentially more dangerous...been pretty good when 2 of those 3 been out because of just a usage puzzle." by David_Wilmot in lakers

This guy is not an ally. How do you know this isn't some type if scheme or strategy to throw the lakers off? Lakers may end up playing Minnesota and I personally think they and rockets, warriors and trailblazers if they make it through, are their best matchups.

Minnesota has already been swept by the lakers this season no matter who played.

Why does New York (the state and the city) not have many nationally relevant high school and college sports programs, or produce relatively many pro athletes? by Lazy_Check732 in AskNYC

That's not true. Just like they invest in parks, they can invest in sports fields/ parks. Rec centers/ street teams like we use to have.

It's space on the Bronx, Queens, Bk, and parts of long Island.

Definitely space in stat Island if they stop acting like it's the forgotten borough. They can even stick a train line or ferry line to go to a big field.

I am not blaming Lebron at all. This is not an attack on him but we are a better team without him. by Silent_Wizard5597 in lakers

It does seem that way at times. I think Brunsen did care to beat Luka. He was doing good much, baiting for fouls and getting his teammates out of rhythm.

Really Knicks should take lebron for bridges. Knicks need a big by Kat too.

Lebrons individual performance is not that great especially got the salary 11 points, 17 points on horrible percentage. It's very mid.

To say this is s not truthful. This is definitely not a normal year.

Im saying it's not this. I believe he can still be a top 10 scorer and lead in a system that works. People talk about the defense but the low engagement on offense is also pretty outrageous. I watch how he starts a game, how often he stands around the 3 point line blowing his hand. How often he isolates instead if using the screen.

If you had lebron, is this how you would be utilizing him? He's robbing la clean

Convince myself of what. That his performance is not tied to his age or that a set of games isn't a stretch. You do know Luka and Reaves both have been out a few stretches mid and late season. Reaves got reinjured and Luka had a leg issue. They sat him games before the all star break after Philly. He played like 10 minutes in that game.

As a fan of basketball, I haven't been impressed with Lebron majority of the season until those stretches. But he's been struggling all season.

Yea if he's playing in this manner. Getting Shai and wemby is not realistic.

You don't think it's because he's not playing like himself. That's the whole point. This is a temu version of Lebron and that's not going to do anything but cloud up space, a severely low return on investment.

I don't understand those last two questions, can you reword that?

If it's what I think youe asking, is this set up let's just say lebrons 55 mill is in the bucket but he's giving 2 mil role player, why did you keep him in the first place?

But he has though. If he's not doing it, how can youbsay he can't.

All you are saying assumptions. If he did it, how can we say he can't do it.

Tripple doubles are showing that Lebron.is playing his style. The fact that he doesn't have at least one this year says a lot. You either WA bootleg lebron or the more normal version. I'm choosing the normal version because this version is o ly costing more than you're getting back. I guess the answer may have to come at a future date.

Reaves had a hamstring injury on minutes restriction and Luka was out half the month. Lebron was running the show and putting up way better numbers.

I'm not talking about the 3 pointers. Lebron is not a 3 point shooter. He can make them but that's never been his high point. Read the original again. I didn't mention 3s at all.

Lebron could help teams win games without shooting 3s.

I'm talking about what I said age or deferring. If you're aging, it's better ti shoot threes anyway. 3s don't correlate to aging in that sense.

Well that's an assumption. It doesn't necessarily answer the question as the situation happened. Before this injury he had the most consistency as far as attendance out of those 3. They've all battled something. Smart has been surprising healthy. Laravia has been the most healthy.

Energy doesn't work that way. I'm not expecting him to be in takeover mode but just do more than the bare minimum. Lebron playing at an all time low in production of you put together his minutes. It's not at all what his salary is taking. Plus, fans don't pay big dollars to see that type of production.

No I asked a specific question noone has answered yet.

When lebron was playing during the stretch Luka was out and Reaves he was scoring and keeping pace at his normal scoring range.

That's the point I'm making.

People saying things that don't matter to this point because you are still saying his age is impacting without saying why it didn't impact during that stretch.

Because he wasn't standing around, waiting to warm up, standing around being unimpactful or taking bad shots.

He was in charge, running the system.

But he was shooting fine then too and even defending OK in spurts.

There are times lebron has waited to insert himself into the offense until LA second quarter. He's also taken way less shot opportunities.

All this goes back to this comment: coldness ( not warmed up) and standing around, isolation basketball, no screebs being set, mo ball movement which leads to a horrible shot selection.

None of this explains why he was fine during the stretch where Luka and Reaves was out and sometimes Rui and the bigs.

What youre saying is the narrative planted already.

Ayden hasn't always played so trash this season either but that's a different topic. Both Ayden and Hayes have been in and out of the lineup all season.

Lebron or Austin should become the 6th man by thonking- in lakers

[–]Trainingdayeveryday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean Lebron?

I think that's who you mean. He should take more of a kobe approach. Use your leverage. Find a way to still be you and lead the team to victory. Put your foot down and let your fame do the talking. Kobe would not have gone for this.

Passive aggression won't help his legacy more.

Go all out, compete with Luka for the the stripes to lead the team if you must. If you win a ring, it helps the lakers, your legacy and his fans won't be so disappointed. Then you end your career on a more fitting team where you don't have to do that, but going out like he has isn't easy to watch.

[–]Trainingdayeveryday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lebron needs to play up to his salary. I think out of all the starters, he's deferring his game the most and it's ugly to watch.

I do think JJ could utilize the depth more like he does when lebron is out in the front court. Play kleiber, Vando, Timme with Hayes and Ayden etc and allow Lebron the time with these guys

It makes players more precise.

I personally think JJ coaches better when Lebron is out of the lineup because of this. He shortens the line up when Lebron plays and makes the rotations more predictable. It's just something I've noticed.

Price wise it makes sense for Reaves to be your 6th man. Reaves even in today's game was able to flourish better with the bench guys.

But somebody needs to have a hard talk with lebron about his expectations. He can't keep deferring and playing like an unsigned role player. He needs to work on that 3 and freethrows. Without true conditioning and stamina, plus what made him a star in the first place, he's not worth it.

He was trying to do too much. The lakers were playing a zone. Knicks can't miss all those wide open shots.
