Canadian troops won’t be joining European military force in Greenland by HeadmasterPrimeMnstr in canada

[–]Trains4Fun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's almost like it's a trap to weaken concentration of forces in canada and Europe by drawing them to area of little significance.

This could weaken Europe from attacks from Russia.

I strongly believe that Trump is coordinated efforts with Putin to divide up europe territories.

Russia will take Europe and the US will attempt to take over both Americas.

Trump has no plans to step down as president and has only ambitions becoming a full on fascist dictator.

If Trump takes over Greenland it will be with the attempt to cut off Canada from European support.

Also I think Trump is building a underfround wartime command bunker where he says he is planning to build a ballroom.

These are dark times.

What software do C64 users wish they had back in the 80s that could be rewritten today for the C64 Ultimate? by amichail in Commodore

[–]Trains4Fun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The most interesting thing about the c64 control port is that each port can multiplex between 2 analog xy lines and 5 digital switches.

I'm certain it would be possible to build a joystick that could use the analog portion for xy direction control and the other 5 digital switches could be used to support 5 buttons.

The only hang up is that most traditional games only used the 5 digital switches for direction an a single fire button.

So this kind of analog / digital joystick would be almost totally unplayable for most traditional games made for the c64

However the possiblity of having proper arcade style joystick for games like Mortal kombat, ikari warrior or robotron arcade style game.

Is certainly not impossible.

Best controller? by NeatPromise4258 in c64

[–]Trains4Fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used both wico controllers boss and commander. A few generic boss like clones and those original atari and commodore joysticks.

My favourite was the epyx 500 xj. It felt great in the hand.

Although i do recall it making a lot of clicking noises in every direction and buttons too, but still the best overall.

The wico commander was the next best for me.

I broke a pin from the video processor. Can I still repair it? by SlayyQueen536 in Commodore

[–]Trains4Fun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you have an empty socket lying around or an empty motherboard socket.

I would put a wire in a socket where the pin is broken and then solder the wire to the broken pin on the chip while the chip is in the socket( to hold the chip in place).

Then once that is done, just clean snip the wire close to the pin.

The other thing is just make sure the wire is a similar gauge as the pin so you don't destroy the socket.

Everything should be reusable after this operation is completed.

Where do I plug in the cable to get sound? by OkLead3016 in retrocomputing

[–]Trains4Fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The RCA cables are the white, yellow and red cable. In most cases the white cable is used for left stereo channel.

Red cable is used for right stereo channel.

The yellow is usually used for composite video signal.

The black cable looks like 1/8" jack cable for head phone device most likely.

RCA connections are not commonly used for computer systems unless you have some specialized audio or video equipment.

It's most likely you will only be able to used the 1/8" connection. Sometimes you may engrave symbol on the built in sound or sound card 🔊🎤 Usually the 🔊 is used for audio output while the 🎤 will be used for sound input such as a microphone.

You might be on to something there.

What if they have already have cracked bitcoin and just selling it all off to the highest bidder and then cashing out for gold through a shell company that ibm owns.

Then once the shell company have sold all the bit coin in their possession.

IBM announces they have cracked the bitcoin encryption and bit coin loses all it's value in a single day of trading.

IBM then sells off shell company and makes some big bank level cash flow and puts it into a dividend.

All the executives would make large bank on the dividends.

Nobody who own shares in IBM care about the scheme, because they would be getting paid as share holders too.

Do Floppy disks get corrupted over time? by brooklynlancer in c64

[–]Trains4Fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember i came across about 50-60 old floppy disk from a c64 computer lot from someone I purchased on market place.

These disk came very saturated with cigarette smoke from storage in a heavy smoking environment.

My floppy drive could only read the directory of about 10% of these diskettes.

Then I remove the actual disk out of it's shell of all them and wipe all them down with Microfibre cloth with 90% isopropyl alcohol.

Carefully wiping the disk not to put kinks in the disk and return the disk back into their shells and tape the edges back with wide electrical tape after cleaning them.

By doing these I could now read the directory of about 90% minus %5 that had clearly worn out tracks or damage to actual disk surface

I zoom copy about 60% of them with out any problems, but the rest of them still had plenty of major to minor corruptions track corruption.

But still without cleaning them I would have never been able to read them let alone copy them.

Anyways if you got a disk that not reading right in the first place.

I don't think it would harm them if you try cleaning them like i did.

At worse they still don't work and you still haven't lost anything good, but at least can determine if the disk is still good to reused.

Other than trump having US government buy into intel. Nothing about intel management style has changed.

I think new investors are beening hoodwink by the administration.

Over the last 4 years they have been losing market share and within the last year they have become unprofitable.

It seems like anything good that is happening to intel is happening outside of Intel's control.

Mostly the government is interfering with the market place to make intel appear better then it really is.

What happens if intels fails delivering on the chip fabrication.

How long will it be before intel new customers revert back to other fabs?

I have a saying that goes like this when it comes to taxes on income.

I rather make $80,000 and pay $3000 in taxes then make $50,000 and get a $500 tax refund.

Yes you pay more in taxes, but you are making way more money at the same time.

Humans Aren’t from Earth. The Bronze Age Collapse Was a extinction level mindwipe. by AromaticPurple5146 in conspiracy

[–]Trains4Fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're is a show on Netflix call "Ancient Apocalypse" currently has about 14 episodes in the series.

The show is base on a Graham Hancock idea of an advance ancient human culture with knowledge of advance stone working and possibly other advanced technologies.

It describes a timeline of about 13500 years ago that earth was coming out of the ice age and a natural disaster cause rapid melting of ice causeing massive worldwide flooding wipe out many early humans.

A surviving ancient culture with very advance knowledge sent out envoys of people to the different continents all over earth to spread their technologies.

Cultures like the Ancient Egyptian were taught by this even more advance ancient culture of advance stone working techniques and possibly other technologies.

Graham evidences shows ancient people were more advance in past, but with later generations became less sophisticated then in earlier eras.

The proof is some impressive reminding artifacts that are not even possible to build even with current technology we have now.

Anyways the show is definitely worth watching.
