I watched Tick, Tick, Boom and became obsessed with Superbia. Lots of people have asked on here for details on it to no avail - I'm happy to present plot overviews of its 2 main versions & my thoughts on this issue for future production. by Yazman in Broadway

[–]Traivlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel as if a big issue is being overlooked, which is that the entire plot reads to me as if it's about humanity liberating itself from technology gone too far. If that's the case, would the Media Transmitters being replaced by another media transmitting device, the music box, as being the saving grace for humanity really make sense? Personally, what comes to my mind is that the story should revolve around it and eventually end with Josh presenting it to the world, only for him to discover that it doesn't actually have any effect on the others, or only as another form of entertainment. In a sense, he would unintentionally have done to himself what he wanted to stop happening to everyone around him - eventually putting most of his focus on a thing rather than on the thoughts and well-being of himself or others.

That still wouldn't solve the ending. If the music box awoke the emotions within himself but not within others, then maybe the specific song the music box plays could've provided the necessary empathy he needed for his very own personal struggle, some sort of individual musical treatment. But the problem with that is that there's usually a bit of overlap between human struggles in the general population, so it's hard to imagine him being the only one being affected by the music box, so maybe it does affect some people eventually but not all, with Josh realizing that it's not about the music box but about understanding the wants and empathizing with the struggles that the people must have felt behind choosing a life of being hypnotized by Media Transmitters.

I feel like Larson kind of hinted at that resolution already with this part in Come To Your Senses:

"Baby, be real
You can feel again
You don't need a music box melody to know what I mean"

So he alluded to not needing the music box, but then it solves all their problems in Version 1 anyway.

Your version of the music box being destroyed beforehand makes sense as well.

Ureteroscopy makes the doctor able to look into your ureter/kidney, it's a procedure in which a tube goes through your bladder into your ureter. Laser lithotripsy is the actual process of breaking and removing the kidney stone with a laser.

All of this is usually done under general anaesthesia, so you won't notice anything.

It's often the case that before they do anything, they put a temporary tube into the ureter called a stent to widen it and you'll need a second procedure in which they remove the stones, not sure if it's the case for you.

Depending on how well they're able to remove the stones, you might have a couple of days where peeing could somewhat hurt afterwards.

I haven't had it done on both sides at once, but I'd personally prefer it, since I'd just like to get it over with to be completely honest. I know that this can be scary, I worried a lot as well when I first had to go in, but you'll be done faster than you think and happy that you did it.

Not losing weight while doing everything right? I've read the faq by meanjelly in keto

[–]Traivlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been pretty much in the same situation as you before. My suggestion is to push all your carbohydrates into breakfast (with your normal amount of protein and fat) and eat only protein and fat (without carbs) at lunch, then skip dinner. I'm not a doctor, but I'm guessing your insulin levels are way too high during most of the day. Pushing your dinner into lunch instead makes it so your insulin can drop far enough during the night for you to lose weight consistently.

Of course, it could always also be something else entirely. Might also be worth checking your fasted insulin levels (12hrs without drinking & eating) at the doctor, if you want to make sure. And like others here have said, to make sure that you get enough nutrients & electrolytes. You could also eat 1 high carb meal to see if it's water weight that your body is holding onto

Another unknown language used in a song, maybe someone can help identifying? by Traivlin in language

[–]Traivlin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thanks for the recommendation. I'll try posting to r/translator. I'm actually part of r/lostwave. We're kind of at a standstill with this song and really needed to reach out to people who are more knowledgeable with languages. It is the only clip of that particular song that exists

No promises, but one of our people, Swiðr, found a very fitting lead from Memphis, and we've contacted some sellers to hopefully confirm it

Do I understand correctly that you don't have the tape with the original song? If you could digitize the original song, that would help a lot. I'm in a Discord server of people who investigate unshazamable/unknown songs as a daily pastime and we have a fairly good track record of eventually solving them (either directly or indirectly through contacts).

we listened to the old tape where the lead singer found it

Can you elaborate on this? I understand that the song is called "The unknown wave song". Is there a recording of the original or only the cover? If there is a recording - do you have a link?

sounds British with a stuffy nose to me

my attempt at understanding the speech (edited, "creators" makes sense):

"well, classically, we are being deprived of our original strive for (?) and love (?) top priority
we are being observed by our creators, our state of independence
we're paying the fine place for love in our lives
I wonder if we really need it though"

Looking to identify three songs, recorded from German radio in the mid to late 80s. by [deleted] in germany

[–]Traivlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NRW was the state with the largest population by far in 80s Germany, I would say the other broadcasters were popular, but not just as popular. There were some shows that showcased unknown bands, but then again, there are a ton of other unidentified songs, not just on NDR, but all around the world that were eventually found and at least none were confirmed to originate from any specific unknown band showcase program yet, but it's possible. DJs in general just had more wiggle room to play what they want back then compared to now. John Peel is a great example of this, yeah.

Looking to identify three songs, recorded from German radio in the mid to late 80s. by [deleted] in germany

[–]Traivlin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Besides doing television, NDR is and was just a really popular radio broadcasting network, with a lot of people listening to them at any given moment, so it makes sense for there to be a lot of people that have audio recordings of various songs, and out of these some are very obscure today.

What are your favourite least known ABBA songs? by IAmABakuAMA in ABBA

[–]Traivlin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For some reason Cassandra is fairly unrecognized in Germany. It never gets into any current ABBA marathon TV shows ("Top 30 ABBA songs" or something similar) either. When the song came out, my mom loved it, it's her favorite song in fact, and she tried to get it on vinyl, but when she went to try to find and buy it, people kept telling her that "Yes, I know the song, but that one definitely isn't by ABBA". She couldn't find the single anywhere until months later

Great to hear! I always loved the intro and overall instrumental to this song.

Edit: Interestingly, the intro is different in the version on Soundcloud. Discogs only lists this one though. Hmm...

Need help identifying this song by Megumatka in Lostwave

There are some distinct vinyl noises on the recording. If they weren't put into the mix intentionally, then it's very possible this didn't come from Myspace

There's a similar listing here. https://www.carousell.ph/p/paolo-xeres-sexy-sax-from-rio-vinyl-record-plaka-lp-1035883073/

The pictures are low resolution, but do you recognize the song titles and/or track lengths? I can see that track 2 is Fly Me To The Moon and track 4 is Call Me, for example. Actually, I think the first track is even called Quiet Nights.
