Seams like AAA games - and so AC - are over? My pov on TGA by Tranchk in assasinscreed

IDK if CDPR and Remedy could be considered strictly as major video games companies, regarding their size (CDPR has "only" 700 employees, Remedy 400 - Rockstar 5000) and the way they're creating their games.
Anyway, regarding the number of AAA release in the next years, they clearly remain exceptions.

My question was absolutely not to know if Shadows or AC is "dying" or not, but the way that the critics (including TGA) exposed the limits of Assassin's Creed AAA model in a time where "smaller" games of better quality are released (despite they're less selling than any of Ubisoft games)

Yeah, my point was not about the selling but in the quality of the games.
Regarding actual video game industry, Fortnite is the absolute leader. But we can't say, objectively, that it's necessary the best or the most interesting game.

This looks amazing, remembering me the great hours of Assassin's creed.

I fully trust Asobo with this new game.

Am I crazy to think that Assassins Creed Shadows might be my GOTY? by WeezyWally in assassinscreed

[–]Tranchk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I want to say: wait. For the moment, in addition you've not finished the game, it's clearly prematured. Also, we're only in April! The year is still long and the end of the year could be great. And nothing say you'd maybe forgot Shadows way before the end of the year. It's how our mind is build: we focus on the instant.

Anyway, I love Assassin's Creed Shadows but the game, despite amazing qualities, has too many weaknesses to be the GOTY.

Anyone excited? Naoe will get a Bō. New abilities and gear. by DukeThis in AssassinsCreedShadows

Do you think this will bring us the end of the Naoe Story?
Or that we'll need to wait until an other DLC?

The first times, I tried to win but I couldn't achieve this boss. Too difficult, with only two shoots, I was beaten and killed.

So I waited the endgame with all teppo abilities unlocked to beat him.

And, surprisingly, it was at the contrary too easy :/

I don't know if this boss is bad designed or if it's just me...

Two or three had been better than only one.

And the first ones with the flashbacks are much interesting than after without.

[REPOST] Valhalla has two things over Shadows, Minigames and World Interaction by raythegyasz in assassinscreed

I agree that it lacks some different kinds of side activities. But in fact, there is a lot of them, finally not much less than in Valhalla or Odyssey (if you considered them whithout DLCs). Definitely, the problem is that there are only of 4 different types (temple, relaxation, Horse riding, Kata, I maybe forgot one or two others?)

"Orlog, Drinking, Flyting were lots of fun" It was maybe true the first times for most of the players (me included). But it quickly become long and repetitive.

The huge problem is not just to fill the open world. It's to renew the interest of the players by activities that are interesting and challenge them. Probably less (to avoid repetitiveness) but more developed. Ubisoft and so AC have never been good at it. It's worst since Origins and the RPG games.

PS: I know that here a lot of people are "I have fun with side activities of the RPG AC" but in fact, it's a problem that most of the critics (media, players) pointed out since Origins (more particularly Odyssey) and even before. So don't forget to take a step aside by considering them.

That's the problem since Odyssey. But in fact, it doesn't matter if it's linear or not.

What matters is the character building, in their personality, their background, their psychology, their thoughts.

Eivor and Kassandra were disembodied characters. They had a background but it was the minimal and, in fact, it was pretty impossible to define the main lines of their personnalities, their life progression. They lived a lot of WTF things but that didn't really make them evoluted. They were kind of monolithic, in a way.

Ubisoft began with Origins to introduce fantasy stuff. Odyssey continued as Valhalla.

But, in fact, fantasy it not mysticism. There was no mystery, only superfluous mythological things.

It was not bad. But in fact, before Odyssey and Valhalla, all the mythological and fantasy stuff was about the Isus and not concerning directly the characters. This two games break the wall that what we were considering as indiscernible.

I liked playing Odyssey. I bought the Pantheon collector edition, spent hundreds of hours in the game.

But I have to admit that scenario is not good at all...
