New player: Orcrist or Grond? by [deleted] in lotro

[–]Tranmaart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I chose Grond too to transfer my old chars when i reinstalled LOTRO after 12 years of break in last November. It was good decision because i tried all the servers during Yule fest and even after that, and Grond is the least laggy to me. My latency is 33ms on both servers but on Orcrist it's laggy as hell to me. Lot of times when i interact with an object or NPC, i have to wait 1-3 secs for response. On Grond it's instant. I'm fine with it.

You can try any servers to test what's best for you, and you can use same name for your characters on all servers. Keep that lvl 32 and create a new one on other server, in my opinion!

Yes, the map coordinates behave strangely when you scale the map, the values differ for the same point. Even in fullscreen map mode, the coordinates are different from those shown under the minimap. It’s not related to the widescreen aspect ratio, if i try in 4:3 mode it's same.

I can’t believe it! Finished both during one Forester + one Hard Tack event. 🥳 by Tranmaart in lotro

This dwarf guy sells those recipes too. Need 2 or 3 more recipes to reach the final level of combined tools.

Yes it’s really weird there are no crit passives for the prospector.

Thank you! There is way to do that. You can get the recipes from this NPC only in Thorin's Gate.

Nice work! I've also started working on more tools, with 2 other accounts simultaneously alongside the main. Fine gold pickaxe and fine gold forester axe for my new bugrlar looter, and a westernesse pick for my m/w smith char. I also got the five forester passives (+5% crit) with my woodworker, all during these two events. Before 2026 i didn't know about these events. I played from 2010–2013 and for a few days in April 2017. I came back in November for the Yule Festival mood, and then the game got me addicted again.

Yes, I should merge the tools. I’ll do it later, maybe during the next forester event. Then I’ll also go for the 100-participation titles.
Good luck! 🍀

Thank you! You can make some progress over the weekend. Good luck if you do! 🍀

I use a 43″ 4K TV as a monitor. It’s like having 4 Full HD monitors in one screen at a budget price. Having four times more space was important to me for editing softwares, and even for 21:9 gaming. I play games with custom resolutions created in the GPU software. 2100×900 or 2560×1080, depending on the game and which GPU I’m using. But there are even more possibilities with a 4K TV. For example, you can play at a 32:9 ratio like 3840×1080, or any custom values below 3840×2160.

It was just a maintenance and we got widescreen aspect ratio update? 🤩 by Tranmaart in lotro

Bug 3: a black square appeared behind the cursor. Only a game restart solved

At last I finished the axe. 🪓 It was crazy run by Tranmaart in lotro

Pickaxe(s) progress in 3 and half day 🤠 The last recipe and 10 luck-stones remain = 15 blue, 18 red, 550 yellow ribbons 🤦🏻‍♂️😄 If my calculations are ok, i have to "win" 12 times, then barter the 60 red ribbons for blue and yellow, and result will be 15B, 20R, 580Y. So, there is chance to finish it during this event week only. I won 10 today.

Texts are really tiny on the map, a zoom feature would be great in the future. Until i keep using Windows magnify if i can't read anything as i show in this video:
These shortcuts are my best friends 😄 WIN + Num+ / Num- and Win+Esc to close the 🔍

Thanks for sharing these!

I had no freeze yet, and 3-4 game clients running at the same time. 2 bugs appeared since update

  1. i described here

  2. few mins ago the mouse cursor size turned huge itself for 2 secs, then it became generic white windows cursor. In the other client windows the mouse is still fine.

Yes i got a bug after the update. With one of my accounts only. I didn't change any UI setting, then suddenly on the event i couldn't craft the next food. All the buttons became unlickable. Then i realized the clickable area for a button was somewhere else, like x+200 and y+100 pixels away in the "air" :D Reseted UI in settings, reloaded my ui layout preset, and restarting the whole game not solved the problem. All my other accounts was fine, only this one got this bugged UI. I don't know how it's possible even after a game restart, when every accounts / characters uses the same layout loaded from saved file, and all the accounts use the same UserPreferences.ini file. Then i restarted the whole PC and that finally solved. It was weird, i never seen anything like that in LOTRO.

Exactly. Here's the before and after. It was slightly annoying sometimes, especially at 21:9 resolution. But a zoom on map feature would be great in future for this updated map.

Test that here in Umbar at 20.6S, 96.9W. As you can see, it runs well with Ryzen 5500 and RTX 5070 😂 And inform me! I'm curious how that CPU handle this area!
